James is an awesome DJ!! He played from 8 to 12 without a single break, and he played all the music we requested plus special requests from the audience. We cannot wait to have him back! You will not be disappointed when you book James for your next party.Sep 17, 2019VerifiedJD Photography & DJ Service's reply
Hi Cynthia! I had such a great time with you all! Can't wait to make the trip again. Hope it's real soon!
I would recommend James for DJ which is what he did for us I would also recommend him for photography as he caught A beautiful picture of our first dance when our actual Photographer could not be found!Jun 21, 2015VerifiedJD Photography & DJ Service's reply
Thank you Rosemary! Just glad I had my camera with me :-)
His phone rang into the speaker as I was walking down the aisle, all of the ceremony music was either the wrong song or played at the wrong time. Emcee skills lacked as well. He had a guest announce the bridal party names for the reception entrance of which all of the guests weren't even inside when the announcement started. Hiring this DJ is the biggest regret of my wedding. The ceremony was the part I was looking forward to the most. I cried my eyes out for days and never even received a sincere apology. Do NOT USE this vendor for multiple services, it's not worth any amount of savings to have some of the most important moments of your life ruined. I have video evidence of everything and don't care for any last ditch apologies or excuses at this point. I just don't want others special days to be messed up.Sep 21, 2017JD Photography & DJ Service's reply
Dear A.L. I am very sorry you are not happy with the DJ service you received. I am certainly sorry the music was interrupted during the ceremony but the song you choose for the processional ran out before you were ready to go down the isle and I inadvertently pressed the call button trying to rewind the song. Concerning the reception, we started when the wedding coordinator asked us to start and your good friend asked if she could announce the names. I felt since she was your personal friend and was a opera performer you would be OK with it. I will certainly make sure to communicate directly with the bride from now on. I sincerely wish you and J.B. the best. J.D.
James and his team were wonderful for not only our photography needs but also our DJ services as well. Would recommend him to anyone needing these types of servicesDec 7, 2017Verified
James and his team did an absolutely wonderful job. They provided both photography and DJ services. I confused them and sent them to the wrong hotel room twice but they just smiled and said it was okay. Mandy was an absolute gem. We were extremely behind schedule but the team remained calm and handled all my last minute changes with ease. The music was also wonderful. Our guests stayed on the dance floor the entire night. The music selections were right on point! I would change some of the mistakes I made but I wouldn't change any of the service I received. Thank you so much James and I can't wait to see our photos in a couple of weeks.Aug 10, 2017VerifiedJD Photography & DJ Service's reply
Thank you Athena! I sincerely appreciate the kind words and I will let Mandy know you mentioned her.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I believe every payment to a professional should be equal to his or her ability to deliver quality products to a client. You shouldn't hire a lawyer based on the way he looks on TV, you should hire him for what he can do in the courtroom. You don't go to a doctor because he works in a nice hospital, you go to someone you feel comfortable with who can heal your pain. It is a mistake to hire a photographer based on price unless you are ok with mediocrity. I charge what I believe I'm worth which may be more than most "phototakers" As a customer, you have to decide what are your memories worth? Can the person you hire provide you with an image that you would hang on your wall or just put in an album?
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to meet with the client and his/her fiance to talk about the vision of their perfect wedding day. Then we talk about how I can best make that dream a reality. I like to lay out a plan for how the day will go including arrival time, where the bride and groom will get ready, whether we do a first look or not, what time each group will be getting pictures taken, etc. I make sure we cover every detail so nothing out of the ordinary happens the day of the wedding. After the meeting, we schedule a time to do engagement photos and I make sure to touch base with the client a couple of times before the wedding and again the week of the wedding. After the wedding, I take the time to critically look at every photo and only choose those which I would be proud to display in my own home. I edit all of the acceptable photos for color balance and clarity then upload them to a Dropbox folder which only the client will have access to.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? The best way to get better at your job is to practice. While I am constantly reading books or blogs, watching instructional videos or taking classes, nothing beats the practical training of experience. I teach photography at a local high school so I practice composition, color balance and working with light every single day.
