About
Hi everyone! My name is Miku. I was born and raised in Japan. I graduated from Dokkyo University in Saitama, Japan, where I majored in Hospitality and Tourism. I worked as a flight attendant for ANA (All Nippon Airways) in Tokyo until 2016, when I moved to Hawaii. I am now a flight attendant with American Airlines.
During university, I also took classes to become a teacher, and I’ve been teaching Japanese for almost 10 years.
In my lessons, I can help you with:
• Conversation skills
• Correct pronunciation
• Proper grammar
I usually use the textbook Genki as a foundation. I provide the materials, so you don’t need to buy anything. With Genki, we’ll practice grammar points, build vocabulary, role-play real-life situations, refine pronunciation, and do plenty of exercises to improve both listening and speaking skills.
I strive to keep my classes relaxed and supportive, so you’ll feel comfortable speaking and learning at your own pace.

I cannot recommend Miku enough as a Japanese teacher! She is truly one of the best instructors I’ve ever had. From the very first lesson, she made me feel comfortable and confident, even as a complete beginner.
Her teaching style is incredibly clear, patient, and well-structured. She uses the Genki textbook as a foundation, which makes it easy to follow along, but she also goes beyond the book by incorporating real-life conversation practice, pronunciation correction, and practical examples. I especially appreciate how she tailors each lesson to my pace and learning goals.
Miku is also amazing at explaining grammar in a simple and easy-to-understand way. Things that used to confuse me now make so much more sense thanks to her explanations. She gently corrects mistakes and helps you improve without ever making you feel discouraged.
What really sets her apart is her background and experience. Being a native Japanese speaker who also has experience as a flight attendant, she brings a lot of real-world knowledge into the lessons. It makes learning feel more practical and engaging, not just textbook-based.

I had a great experience with Miku. The communication was always prompt and clear, and scheduling was very easy. She was professional, patient, and really took the time to understand my goals and adjust the lessons to my level.
The quality of instruction was excellent. Lessons were well-structured but also flexible, making it easy to stay engaged and actually enjoy learning. I noticed real improvement in both my confidence and understanding after just a few sessions.

miku is the perfect teacher. she is patient and helps walk you through anything youre confused about. i had some experience with japanese before starting lessons, although it wasnt much and i was rusty, miku was able to explain it and get me back up to speed. shes always able to give me the perfect answer to any questions i may have
she is punctual and always on time, and always makes sure to let me know about her availability for our next lesson!
shes super professional, and also kind :) you can tell she really wants to help you succeed and accomplish your goals.
she knows what i need to work on and we establish a plan on how to get it done. i look forward to all of our lessons and i feel accomplished after every single lesson.

Miku is a *fantastic* Japanese teacher. She structures lessons thoughtfully, communicates clearly, pays high attention to detail, and is patient. I had no previous exposure to Japanese language instruction and could see tangible progress after a month working with Miku. Miku has been beyond useful in helping my personal understanding of the Japanese language. She has always been punctual and has lessons almost every week possible. I generally ask a million questions and she answers every single one to the best of her ability without making the answers too confusing for someone new to Japanese.
I think going through Genki 1 with her has mostly helped my grammer. I have to form Japanese sentences every lesson and her corrections are very useful due to how she explains even the smallest reasons why you'd say something one way in Japanese and not a different way.
I can't speak to the quality of other tutors because this is my first tutor but I can say that if you want a tutor that is easy to understand and easy to speak with without feeling judged or pressured then she is perfect. みく先生ありがとうござました！
