Lightning Tutoring Services

In terms of educational background, I have a BA in integral liberal arts and an MA in Eastern classics. My strongest areas to tutor in are English, history, public speaking and some science. I do not tutor in high-school-level math, however. I also have an extensive knowledge of both Western and Eastern classical literature. I bring a unique approach to learning that states that we are intelligent beings capable of great things; we simply need to find ways to bring those qualities to the forefront. I believe that simply teaching oneself to memorize a list of facts--although I am quite skilled in using and teaching memorization techniques--is not enough. It is also vital to have a living, interactive connection with the subject at hand in order to learn how to learn and how to ask the right questions. My degree, otherwise known as the Great Books program, is indeed a liberal arts degree in which math, science, language (ancient Greek), and literature are studied all 4 years, but my program placed a strong emphasis on philosophy, rhetoric, and primary texts. All classes are conducted in seminar style, as per classical Greek ideals, including math and science, where students can have that living ongoing interaction with each other and the texts. With my unique educational background in the Great Books program, I believe I have the skills to help others excel and grow more confident.
