FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Basically, my newborn sessions start at $200 and go up for family shots and multiples. Regular sessions, such as children, couples and families are $150. I have an online product guide I share with my clients which shows samples of all my products along with their prices. My packages start at $927 and go up to $1,259. My ultimate product is the entire gallery as digital negatives and that is sold for $1000, allowing you to create endless prints and products and also share your images online with friends and family. Because I understand photography comes at a high price, I do offer financing options, and also take major credit cards and paypal.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! Every day I find myself learning and observing, and most important practicing what I see. If it's not photography, it's editing or marketing. I've been having the most fun learning how to get creative with my prop designs while staying true to my style.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I had my second baby in 2009, I wanted so badly to get professional photos taken. I chose the first person I could find on Craigslist, offering a newborn session for free, to build their portfolio. At the session, I found myself asking many questions and I enjoyed watching the process. It felt like an atmosphere I was most "at home" in; sitting with other women, sharing my baby with them and getting to play with ideas for her photos. While my daughter was still little, I borrowed a real camera from a friend and started practicing at home... let me just say, they were nothing like the photos you see today. I then tried out photoshop and posted the photos online. Before I knew it, friends were asking me to take their photos and quickly started to recommend me to their friends. I'd have to say, I didn't choose photography... photography chose me.
