Introduction
I have lived in Iowa my whole life and have been providing professional landscape services to commercial & residential properties in Eastern Iowa for over 25 years. I am passionate about landscaping and enjoy providing people and businesses with beautiful properties to enjoy all year!
The outdoors and environmental conservation are important causes to me. I am proud to donate a portion of our profits each year to organizations that play a role in preserving and protecting Iowa’s natural areas and wildlife.

After being ghosted by a larger local landscaping company, I reached out to Michael to improve the look around my garage and deck, and to lay sod for a long-grassless section of the backyard.
His choice of mandevillas, barberry bushes, and northwind switch grasses transformed the garage from boring to beautiful. He replaced a lot of wayward gravel and a pair of ugly bushes in front of the deck with simple but tasteful pavers, black mulch, and my chosen daylilies. The sod looks great after nearly three weeks of faithful watering, per his instructions.
I appreciated his willingness to answer questions, provide floral ideas, and communicate arrival and departure times each day he was able to put work in.
The job took a little longer and cost a little more than initially estimated. But the final result looks great, more than making up for those things. Should I need additional landscaping work, I plan to reach out again to Michael. I encourage you to do the same.

Mike Hartin is the owner and does the work himself. He invested time finding out exactly what we wanted and delivered excellent results. There were times we modified what we had originally wanted and Mike was very flexible with that. We have used Friends of the Earth Landscaping numerous times and have always had high quality results.

Mike at FOTEL is a very hard worker. Willing to listen to and discuss what you need done. He can get more done in an hour than some landscaping firms get done in two. We have hwd Friends of the Earth Landscaping help with many projects over the past years. His quick response after the derecho to help clear and clean up the yard was just amazing.

Mike and Friends of the Earth does a great job. Mike has maintained 3 of our Restaurant properties for over 3 years. I would strongly recommend to anyone and his price is right.
