Lonnie fixed a leaking bathroom faucet at my home. He arrived on time and had it fixed quickly even with a three year old at his heels. Price was as quoted and I'd definitely use the Force again!

Working with Marcus & Jade was such a pleasure. I would recommend him to anyone & EVERYone!! We started by speaking on the phone & he then came by, took a long time looking at all we wanted done & worked out a very reasonable & thorough quote. We had two projects done by them. First was a front porch roof. It came out so awesome that when we decided to paint the exterior of our home, we went with Cucci's as well. Again, he came out & worked out a very reasonable quote AND stood by it. He didn't charge us a penny more & it was quite a bit of work. The house hadn't been painted in decades & needed a LOT of prep work. They worked around inclement weather & were very pleasant about it. The house looks incredible & they were such pleasant people to have around. Seriously, folks, if you want a very personable master craftsman, Marcus & Cucci's should be your first choice!

We are a small non-profit with a tight budget. Rick and Jake did a wonderful job remodeling our building. We literally gutted a good portion of the building, built new walls and rooms, re-routed lights and fans, installed new plumbing and countertop, installed new vinyl flooring, and painted. I would highly recommend Rocky Mountain Home Repair & Remodel.

I sent out a thumbtack request to have two new windows installed that I purchased on both sides of our patio door. Alan sent me a very reasonable quote quickly. I emailed him some pictures and the next day he came out to look at it and decide what materials we would need to frame out the new windows (as they were different sizes than the old ones). The next day he had them installed. They were quick, fast, efficient, very clean, and we are very happy that we hired Alan. We were in a hurry to get the job done and he took his Saturday to get the job done quickly for us. Thank you Alan and Susy. We saved his card to pass along to others and will call him for future window and door installs.

Jayme, The son of a painter, did a beautiful job on my exterior trim, door, shutters and window frames! I had injured my shoulder and could not finish a job I had started. It was well worth it to me to pay him to do the job.I believe he did a better job than I could have done myself....& in less time. I have always done my own painting but plan to use him in the future for interior painting. Thank you, Jayme!

We had a total remodel of our kitchen. Scott Collins got us a very good deal on custom cabinetry and had very good suggestions for a choice of Corian countertops as well as wonderful suggestions for re-doing our former recessed florscent ceiling fixture. He has an excellent eye for detail and makes very good suggestions. I also found him to be very conscientious in leaving the worksite very clean before he left for the day. Additionally he came equipped with all tools and supplies needed for the job and didn't have to leave numerous times to get needed items or material. In addition to the kitchen remodel, we had a tubular skylight installed and a solar-power attic fan, which lowered our electric bill in the summer by a minimum of $10 a month. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who would like to update their home.

A 40 year old split level house in need of renovation, Marc installed all new windows, replaced the roof with a new metal roof, completely renovated the bathroom with my own design of beautiful ceramic tile throughout, installed hardwood flooring throughout after removing a collapsed ceiling and replacing and finishing the new ceiling and walls. His work is meticulous and thorough, and he works fast; once he begins a job for you, he will work tirelessly and efficiently until it is completed. He considers it part of the job to clean up afterwards, and his pricing is competitive. I was happy with the entire project and Marce was pleasant and attentive to my concerns and requests. I would highly recommend Marc to anyone wanting quality, personalized work at a reasonable price, completed on time.

Zach did a complete remodel of a house we were flipping together. He replaced the carpet, added tile floors, painted both the interior and exterior, replaced a broken window, updated some electrical and plumbing, and updated the kitchen. He also completely finished a basement. It looked awesome and he was on time and on budget!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

      • Trim repair:
        • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
        • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
      • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
      • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
        • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
        • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
          • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
