Introduction: I have enjoyed working with students one -on-one in the area of literacy for over 10 years. It is a joy to see my students gain confidence as they improve in the areas of decoding, fluency, spelling, writing and most importantly reading comprehension. The phonics/spelling component of my instruction is Orton-Gillingham based incorporating the Wilson Reading System, which entails explicit, systematic and multi-sensory instruction.

Our 1st grade son has been tutored by Kathy in reading for several months now. We are very satisfied with the progress he has made with Kathy's help! In reading he was behind and struggling; losing interest and motivation in school. Our son loves to work with Kathy on a weekly basis. He has developed reading skills and techniques which have improved his reading ability significantly. Kathy is kind, patient and flexible. She finds a time for tutoring that works best for both of our schedules. She is on time and dependable. Kathy's expertise in reading has made all the difference for our son!

We hit the literacy jackpot! I have two children whose reading skills have greatly improved with Kathy’s wonderful instruction.
My daughter advanced six reading levels and now devours books. What was once a painful chore has become one of her passions.
My son has also made strong advances in reading. As an added bonus, his writing skills have also improved.
My children connected with Kathy due to her kind, gentle nature. She makes learning fun and is a pro in her field.
We will forever be grateful for the solid literacy foundation Kathy has helped build in our children.

Kathy has such a great approach to kids. Thanks to her my daughter who struggled with reading/writing is now a good reader and a wonderful writer. Kathy gave my daughter the foundations and taught her the skills that she needed to not only get better but to develop the love for writing. She is now on par with everyone else in her class and her teacher said that she is one of the most creative writers in the class. Can’t thank Kathy enough.
