FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Started in the carpenters union framing new homes. Learned the other trades on the job or on side jobs. Networked and connected with a lot of skilled tradesmen. ‘08 worked slimmed down a lot. Started picking up work to keep food on the table for myself and friends in the same position. Made sure we focused on the homeowners needs and concerns. This led to repeat customers and a lot of business via word of mouth. After back and forth of cutting paychecks and going back to collecting paychecks, I realized I was happier and better off running the show. I hired guys that take the same pride in their work as I do, and fairly bid jobs that allowed them the time needed for a picture perfect result. While every job should be completed in a timely fashion, rushing your workers ends in hack work and time wasted on repairs.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do not hire a so called GC. A lot of guys out there take on jobs as a GC and just sub the work out to cheap companies to ensure they make a good profit for basically doing nothing. First find a carpenter for your project. They no doubt can direct you to the other trades. Carpenters are some of the most resourceful and connected people on the job.
