I've only recently begun taking piano lessons, but I can already tell that Jon Novi is the kind of teacher who sees limitless potential in his students. His enthusiasm buoys me even when I think I've messed up a song, and encourages me to try again. Also, his piano skills are on point, and he does a good job of explaining how to read a score and the mechanics of playing the piano. Beyond piano know-how, though, I would argue that it is Jon Novi's zest for teaching that makes me glad I am taking lessons with him. You won't regret it.

Yuen Yee Richardson has been providing weekly piano lessons for my 2 kids since May 2016. Our kids enjoy their lessons with her, have made great progress in their proficiency and are always happy to play a song or two, whether on their own or upon request. Yuen Yee is easy to work with, provides constructive feedback about how our kids are doing, and very communicative. We have recommended her to our friends with no hesitation.

I took sax lessons from Max while he was at Oberlin. He cares about his students and their musical growth. He makes even the most tedious drills fun, especially when he plays the material along with you. He's a fantastic musician as well. I miss working with him.

I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.

I started taking lessons with Josh my sophomore year of high school, and ended them the summer before my senior year of high school. Through taking lessons with Josh he was able to drastically help me improve my abilities on clarinet in a reasonable amount of time and at an affordable price, while encouraging me to improve the entire time I was given lessons. I highly recommend Josh Goo for private clarinet lessons.

Steve is a great guy and a wonderful musician. Steve graduated the year before I started high school. He came back to help the saxophone section learn music for marching band and along the way, gave many valuable pointers to help us all know our instruments better and grow as young musicians. Almost 20 years later and I still regard him as an inspiration to my musical endeavors.

Al is always on time and always come with a positive attitude. He is helping our son to “shape” his piano skills making him work on pieces that challenge him. I like that Al doesn’t make my son feel bad about his mistakes and encourages him to put his personal touch in what he plays. I really recomend Al as a piano teacher.

I have an intimate familiarity with Abode's Audition recording software, as well as the Sibelius musical notation software. I have a great ear, and I incorporate aural skills into my lessons. My master's degree from NIU in jazz arranging prepares me to teach music theory in lessons as well.
