Kabir is an exceptional drum teacher. I started with him as a beginner and he is really good at structuring lessons, developing a course of study, and meeting you where you are at in terms of skill level to help you grow as a drummer and musician. He is very good at breaking down concepts and techniques to make them more digestible, which makes the learning process less intimidating. I highly recommend him to drummers of all ages and skill levels.

Kabir possesses an extremely in-depth knowledge of the instrument and music theory as a whole, and he displays passion and excitement at passing on this knowledge to his students. His calm and friendly demeanor is enough to make even the most nervous beginners feel comfortable, and he has been extremely flexible with both his schedule and the content of the lessons he provides. Even though the genres of music I am interested in are not very typical for him to teach, he has been willing to take on uncharted territory with me and learn more about the music that interests me so he can be an even better instructor and guide me to success. Having always been interested in drumming, I'm very glad that I made the decision to try lessons with Kabir, and I am proud of the skills and knowledge I've since gained as the result of his teaching.

I can't say enough about how great my experience learning drums with Kabir has been! I have been a jazz drummer for over 20 years and I wanted to find someone who could meet me where I was and help push me to develop above-and-beyond what I had already learned. Kabir started by deeply understanding my personal goals and breaking down areas of improvement that he learned through observing my playing throughout our first few months together. Before I knew it, we were doing deep studies on Philly Joe Jones and Elvin that made me feel as if I were getting a professional music degree! His technical acumen and ability to provide simple exercises for development areas continually impresses me. I base each student's curriculum on their personal interests. We start with a goal in mind and develop a way of achieving this goal, whether its through exercises or listening.

I have taught private lessons for 10 years. I currently am the percussion director at Amos Alonzo Stagg Highschool.
