We have 1000 square feet of walnut flooring that was installed 3 years ago. Unfortunately, the floor sustained a great deal of damage, mainly deep scratches, caused by our English bulldogs. We had 6 estimates to have the flooring sanded & refinished. Estimates ran from 2100.00 to 4000.00+, but more significantly was the fact that all of the flooring experts suggested a finish similar to what was applied at the factory prior to installation. These products, by several different names, were basically a polyurethane finish.
Enter Neal Sherman, who said we were essentially throwing money away if we used the same finish that was previously on the wood as it would have scratches & the same appearance as before within 6 months.
Neal suggested an oiled & waxed floor. There would still be some scratches but they would not be noticeable due to the lack of luster on the wood.
We went with this suggestion & LOVE the look of our floors. Neal did an outstanding job & was neat, respectful of our home, & efficient during the entire process. Additionally, the cost of this job was on the low end of the bids previously mentioned.
If you're looking for quality workmanship & someone who thinks out of the box because he knows wood flooring, Neal Sherman is your guy.
