Introduction
As a certified teacher in Illinois with an MA in Spanish, 9 years of teaching experience, and experience living abroad in Spain/Peru, I am able to utilize a unique skill set to ensure that my services meet the expectations of clients. My preferred levels for tutoring are beginner to upper intermediate, though I am happy to discuss all ability levels.
I utilize a wide variety of resources that vary based on the needs and level of each student. My core philosophy is that people learn language through "doing" and I center my lessons around authentic use of Spanish whenever possible. As a language learner myself, the insights I have gained in my own journey allow me to cater my expertise to English speakers who are most likely experiencing or will experience similar challenges and successes.

Collin is simply the best teacher! He helped me to prepare my IELTS test (I got an 8, yay!) and his lessons couldn't have been better. He put a great effort finding and creating material for me, plus his explanations were super didactic and straightfordward. He was very patient and dedicated and I feel I was very lucky to find him. I highly reccomend the experience! (Fortunately, he also speaks my mother tongue, Spanish, which made it easier to fix the mistakes I make because of it's influence.) 5 stars!

I had started learning basic Spanish through apps, but realized those courses left a lot of gaps in understanding the language.
After searching around for some private tutors, I landed on Collin - his proposal for tutoring was great, and after we met to discuss what my shortcomings were, I found him to be very understanding of my situation and eager to put together lessons to help me feel more comfortable with español.
Collin was very patient with me, and after each session, he'd adjust the material based upon what he saw/heard I could use more work on.
Unfortunately, we only had a few lessons - my freelance schedule was causing problems with sleep and being able to book consistent times for Spanish tutoring (a deadly combination when trying to learn something as mentally taxing as a new language!) so I had to end the sessions.
Irregardless, I highly recommend Collin for studying Spanish. It was great being able to practice speaking and writing one-on-one with him - his materials and recommendations were fantastic, and it was reassuring to know Collin had experienced the same trials and tribulations as a non-native speaker studying/traveling abroad!

Collin is a great teacher who will push you outside your comfort zone while bringing along the way. Furthermore, he can customize your experience for both the Spanish and Latin American tongues. He is very professional, timely, and great to work with.

Collin is an excellent teacher! Very organized, professional and has a lot of experience. I have learned so much in just a few weeks and am able to understand (for the most part) conversation in Spanish already. I definitely recommend hiring him as a Spanish tutor. Rates are fair, and he does a great job teaching in a new and fun way each lesson.
