Amanda is an incredible Spanish teacher. I started intermediate classes with her over Zoom during the pandemic and have been so happy with my progress. She's not only helped me improve my grammar through thoughtful lessons and exercises, but she's also given me so much more confidence in my ability to speak through all the fun conversational activities we do. Even after just a few months of learning with Amanda, I already felt so much more capable of participating in conversations with my Spanish-speaking in-laws. Amanda tailors our classes to my particular growth areas and learning preferences, and I leave every one of our sessions feeling motivated to continue on my journey to become fluent in Spanish. Thank you, Señorita Amandita!

Ms. Bidstrup is as knowledgeable about the Spanish language as she is passionate about teaching it and sharing it with others. She is thorough in her methods and flexible to the students needs. I highly recommend studying with her.

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I'd like to know your prior background with the language and where you hope to go with the language (previous knowledge with future goals). I will craft a curriculum that takes your current level, specific needs, and aspirations into account.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-Bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Spanish, Bilingual Education, ESL
-Master's degree from Northeastern in Latin American Literature and Culture
-Fifth year teaching Spanish at private high school in Chicago (Spanish 2 and IB Spanish classes)
-Tutor students outside of class for over 5 years
How did you get started doing this type of work?
As I lived abroad in Madrid in 2012, I explored my talents in the education field for the first time and adored every aspect of it. I knew teaching and World Language Acquisition would be a gratifying path for me to pursue. Stepping into my classroom daily and working with my students constantly reaffirms this decision.
