Looking to excel in youth orchestra auditions, school ensembles, college music programs, and beyond?
As a professional violinist and educator, I help young string players develop the skills, confidence, and artistry needed to achieve their musical goals.
My experience includes serving as Music Director of Chicago's Classical Symphony Orchestra and Protégé Philharmonic, teaching violin, viola, conducting, and orchestra for 36 years at North Park University and Northeastern Illinois University, and spending 11 summers on the faculty of the renowned Sewanee Summer Music Center.
I studied with internationally acclaimed artists Shmuel Ashkenasi and Pierre Menard of the Vermeer Quartet.
Lessons are offered in my welcoming home studio in Chicago’s Mayfair neighborhood, conveniently located near Pulaski and Wilson.

Mr Glymph has been my violin teacher in 2 different points in my life. He is a professional violinist, with an impeccable ear, an exact and to the point knowledge in the violin, and always knows how to practice any type of passage whether it be in an exercise or a concerto. If you listen and practice at home how he explains at your lesson, his teaching will always lead you to the next level quicker. Every exercise and concerto has a specific lesson it is teaching you, you never waste your time. This is the difference between having just any run of the mill violin teacher, and an actual professional teaching you. You will actually learn technique for violin playing, and end up learning music theory while you're at it. You will need discipline and a willingness to learn, and you will get better and learn a ton.

Mr. Glymph has been the most inspiring and motivating teacher I have ever worked with. I started lessons with Mr. Glymph a few months before my college audition and it was the best decision I have ever made. Although this was a challenging time of relearning all the basic fundamental techniques, Mr. Glymph believed in me since the first day of lessons and never gave up on my growth. I am forever grateful and honored to have been Mr. Glymph's student. Now I am an orchestra teacher and perform all around the Chicagoland area. Whoever ends up studying with him will learn so much not only about how to be a better musician but also how to become a better person :)
