About
I love teaching percussion. I have experience teaching students as young as 6, and as old as 50. In our first lesson, we’ll establish your musical goals. I will tailor the lessons to guide you toward that vision. Whether you love classical, drum set, or drum line, I can’t wait to get started helping you live your dream!
There are many approaches percussion teachers bring to music instruction. While I certainly spend the majority of my lessons devoted to technical development, I believe this work serves a higher purpose. A musician uses technical skills to transition from the mere pleasure of sound generation toward engagement with sound as art.
I have seen incredible transformations in the people I have had the privilege to teach over the years. It is this opportunity to guide people to recognize their intrinsic beauty as the pinnacle of creation that drives me as a teacher.

Joe Beribak is one of the most devoted teachers I have ever studied with. He refines his teaching to fit the individual needs of each one of his students, and is constantly looking for new and exciting ways to teach. He is a skilled and versatile musician who models excellent form and tone during each lesson. Joe is also a very warm person, and helped me to understand the "heart" of each piece I learned without losing track of the joy of music making. He made a strong positive impact on my development as a musician and person.
I recommend Joe to percussionists of any age/ability level!

Joe has the ability to reach students in a very special and individualized way, showing each pupil that enters his studio ways they can improve. He can help students prepare for all kinds of audition opportunities, guide a student to their musical specialty and is willing to speak to students at all times. There isn't a better percussion teacher I've ever come across that has helped me more in the ways of music.

Thanks, Mike! Best wishes moving forward. I truly enjoyed lessons with you!

I studied with Joe for four years, if memory serves correctly, and I can promise that, with him as your teacher, your practice will make you improve measurably. During the periods where I put the proper amount of effort in, I improved effectively and developed my technique properly in order to continue improving when moving on to the next skillset. Like any good teacher, he expects you to do work on your side in order for his teachings to be effective. He always managed to think of creative ways of shifting focus from one technique to the next in which the previously-learned material would be reinforced by the material which followed it. If you are willing to put the effort in and spend a minimum of 15-30 minutes per day practicing, you will not regret your decision.

Conor was my very first student! I learned at least as much from working with him as he did with me. Thank you, Conor!
