John and crew are hard working and diligent.John is true to his word. Project started on time. Crew showed up every day, finishing quicker than I expected. The quote they gave me was spot on, no additional charges upon completion. Im thrilled with my new finished basement ! I highly recommend Aguila!

Hired on Thumbtack

My experience with this contractor from Thumbtack was exceptionally disappointing. He provided a clear estimate to paint the entire room, yet once on-site, he attempted to raise the price and even fabricated excuses — claiming, for example, that my wife told him not to paint the closet, which was never discussed. His workmanship was equally unacceptable: he left the wall unsanded, poorly painted, and far from professional standards. He also failed to arrive at the scheduled times, showing a complete lack of reliability. Despite leaving the job unfinished and below quality expectations, he still demanded 75% of the payment. Based on this experience, I strongly advise others to avoid this contractor and seek someone reputable and honest.

Details: No, there is no existing wiring • Install switch or outlet • 3 switches or outlets • Rooms without water access, like a bedroom • Drywall • House

Aguila Construction L.L.C.'s reply
I’m sorry to hear you feel this way. For the first project, you hired us to run new electrical wiring through finished walls and install additional electrical boxes. We provided a clear estimate. That amount did not change on-site. The wiring was completed, tested, and operating correctly when we left, and payment was delayed After that, we returned for a separate project. We gave a heavily discounted price of $1,400 for heavy patching, paint of walls, ceilings and trim for multiple rooms, which you approved. Once work started, additional items such as painting inside closets were requested. We explained that extra areas or upgrades would require a change in price. When we could not agree on expanding the scope for the same budget, the relationship unfortunately broke down. Regarding the comments about “unsanded” or “unfinished” surfaces: the photos attached to this review show walls in the middle of the patching/first-coat process, not a final product. Our standard process is to sand, touch up, and do a final walk-through before any job is considered complete or final payment is requested. We did not have the opportunity to complete that process here. I work from clear estimates, clear scopes of work, and progress payments tied to completed stages. We do not charge for work that was not performed. Most of our clients value that transparency and the quality of our electrical and painting work, which is reflected in our other reviews. I remain open to discussing the situation offline if you’d like. I wish this situation had been resolved more positively.
