Apex Pinnacle Services did an outstanding job on our recent move. The crew was very professional and our move out and in process was very smooth. We appreciated the fact that the same crew packed all of our household goods and delivered them. They took great care in making sure all of our goods were delivered in good condition. Not one single item was damaged or missing!

Ollie and his partner was phenomenal! Punctual, pleasant and persistent! Even when furniture gave them trouble, the hard work never ceased. Teamwork makes the dream work and I enjoyed being a team player with these guys! Both gentlemen had great personalities and didn’t mind me bothering them. When moving items, they showed great concern, awareness and respect for my belongings. They come highly recommended for your moving, lofting or household needs! You will not be disappointed.

We have two large and loud dogs. Nena and her team worked around our quirky household, cleaned the house so that it was cleaner than when we moved in, and stayed under the originally quoted price. We tipped her team for a job well done and will absolutely be using them in the future. We are very pleased!

Brian was quick in responding to my request for a furniture assembly job. This particular piece came with no assembly instructions, which halted any aspirations I entertained of getting it doing it all by my DIY-self. However, Brian put the entire thing together in a very little time, with no instructions. Even though there was a very serious rainstorm that morning, Brian still showed up on time. He was very courteous during the entire duration, I was quite pleased with his professionalism and good manners. Even my mother was very satisfied, and she is much more difficult to please! While I am not aware of the entire breadth of Brian's qualifications, he certainly has my recommendation if it comes to furniture assembly and such similar projects in the household. If I run into a similar roadblock again in the future, I would not hesitate contacting him again.

I requested housecleaning services last week and received a quote within minutes. Ashley was then very prompt in scheduling the services I requested, on the exact date I asked, and sent a confirmation; I was also notified when the cleaner was en route to my home and when she left. The cleaner showed up exactly on time and her work certainly met our expectations. We have 4 pets in the household (lots of animal hair and dust!) and I walked into the condo after the cleaning with a "white glove" since this was the first visit and we were deciding whether to have recurring services or just a one time cleaning. I immediately rescheduled and we look forward to a hopefully long-lasting professional relationship. We also loved that we were able to pay for services with a credit card and that the scheduler was always immediately available. From our experience, we highly recommend Bundled.

Walt with WB was wonderful! I needed a fence built at a new home in short order to keep some dogs contained. Walt got out the next week to get the job done. Even working alone, he fenced in the yard with shadow box fencing within 3.5 days. He pulled all permits and even made sure to call the permitting office later on one the final day to ensure someone had gotten out to sign off on the job. Would definitely recommend WB for fencing or any other household need.

My room was a disaster before Tilly came in and helped me out! I had clothes everywhere, bags and boxes filled with miscellaneous items and kitchen gadgets without a spot. She came in and organized everything and make my closet functional again! I definitely plan on hiring her again when I move to help me get rid of some of the things that I don't need anymore.

Joe is the BEST. He came out same day to fix various household repairs - TV wall mount installation, closet door, fixed a runny toilet and drain. He even stayed a bit to troubleshoot a TV connectivity problem! We were super impressed, and extremely grateful that he went above and beyond.

RE: Michelle Dello and Bow Wow Pet Services I moved back to Woodstock, IL from Washington, DC, temporarily to care for my elderly mother, who was rapidly failing. I brought my three cats to stay with me in my mother's home. One of my immediate concerns after arrival in the midwest was that I needed to find assistance in caring for the cats, since I make somewhat frequent work trips. I did some research on availability of pet sitter organizations in the area, talking with vet clinics, shelters and friends. I also checked online for appropriate websites. Michelle (and her company, Bow Wow Pet Services) was one of the first I spoke with about our situation. She was immediately responsive, and spent a good deal of time visiting with me, the cats, learning about our needs, describing her professional experience and the services she can provide. Since October, Michelle has been our regular cat care provider. She is very reliable, efficient, loves and understands pets and their owners. She has been very considerate when emergencies arise and I have asked for her help with short notice (I try not to do this, but sometimes it happens). She has been understanding about working in our household at a difficult time in our family's life, and has handled certain situations with kindness and grace. Michelle is also very good at communications (electronic and otherwise) to report on the status of the cats at feeding time, and to share details of their kitty antics while I've been away. She provides a sense of reassurance that all is well, often with a nice element of humor. I highly recommend her to fellow pet owners. And BTW, she is a lovely, energetic person with a very active family life. It's all good. Christine Richardson

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

What does a handyman do?

A handyman is a skilled laborer who provides basic home repairs. Anyone can call themselves a handyman, although most who do so are skilled with repairs and home projects. Reading reviews is a good way to determine their fitness for your job. The tasks a handyman can perform include assembling furniture, painting interiors and exteriors, repairing fences, repairing broken doors or replacing trim, hanging lights, hooking up appliances, and much more. Handymen may have flat fees for certain services, or charge an hourly rate. Handyman rates are often lower than those of a contractor, as they don’t have the same specialization. Some states have no limit on the work a handyman can perform, while others do. For example, California’s Building and Professions Code section 7048 (small operations) permits handymen to provide work similar to that of a contractor (floor installation, painting, etc.) provided the total cost of labor and materials does not exceed $500. A handyman is a great resource for minor home repairs at a lower cost than a licensed contractor, but for more complex projects, it pays to hire a specialized contractor. How do you find a good handyman?

Finding a good handyman can change your life. Within days, the endless list of insurmountable tasks that were either out of your skill range or impossible to fit into your busy schedule can be completed. If you know you want help but aren’t sure how to hire the right pro, ask these questions to find the right fit:

  • What is your work experience? If you are putting in a tile backsplash, you want someone experienced with the task, not someone who generally does painting and junk removal.
  • How much do you charge? Handymen often charge hourly rates that vary based on the complexity of the task they’re hired to do, as well as flat rates for standard jobs. Be clear about what they’ll charge before you hire them.
    • On that note, discuss payment details. It’s wise not to pay all the money up front, especially for larger projects. You may be able to pay a deposit for materials and pay the remainder upon project completion.
  • How long will the job take you to complete? If the handyman is as busy as you are and a fence repair is going to take months, you should probably find another qualified handyman for the job.

Read client reviews and follow up with references to make sure you’re choosing the right handyman for your projects. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.
