About
I have been playing guitar for over 45 years. I have played in jazz, blues and rock bands. I teach a very practical approach to playing guitar where my students can start playing their favorite songs right away. I can teach electric or acoustic guitar. I teach beginning to intermediate levels, chords, scales, fretboard knowledge, guitar maintenance and music theory.

Phil, The gift of guitar lessons has certainly helped Gary understand and appreciate the practice that is needed when wanting to learn to play the guitar. Phil is an excellent guitar teacher who taught me how to be more creative and helped me learn how to flow in my playing as opposed to thinking just about theory. Phil was also very patient and understanding when it came to what I wanted to learn and would provide me with specific feedback after each lesson on what to target next. He also created a calm and fun environment which allowed me to be more confident as a player. Overall, a great guy and great teacher!

Phil asked me what I wanted to achieve with my new guitar learning experience. He listened and we set a plan. He makes us keep it fun. I feel comfortable setting my pace. His working knowledge of so many music genres has me excited about what I will be able to play soon!

I have had over a hundred lessons from Phil over the years. At my request he started teaching me basic blues rhythms. He knew all about them, even though his background is more Jazz influenced (He had his own Jazz band). Phil seemed to know which rhythms would be fun and easy at each level as I was advancing. He was always patient with me; I really sucked at each new thing for a while. He wouldn't even say a word about it (he knows I have ears). I'm so glad that I stuck with him. Now I can play about 50 rock songs and counting. Phil even learned some songs just so he could teach them to me. I recommend him highly
