My son recently went to a pre-lifeguard camp at the YMCA. He came away from that experience excited about the prospect of being a lifeguard and wanted to become certified in CPR. I felt taking a CPR class together would further that enthusiasm and I went searching for a qualified instructor. This led me to Jen Wilson and Vital Education. I have to say,I was thoroughly impressed with this class and it's instructor. Jennipher Wilson teaches CPR and AED training with the utmost professionalism. After 20 years as and EMT, she really knows her stuff, and more importantly, she believes in what she teaches. She was very accommodating and made it easy to learn the material (instead of having to schedule and travel to an inconvenient classroom, she came right to me). She makes the class fun and engaging and is not afraid to spend as much time as you need to help you grasp the material. My son was taught some basic techniques during his lifeguard camp, but I learned from Jen that the AED training he had received at camp was outdated information . She was concerned about confusing a13 year old by teaching something that differed from what he had just learned. I told her not to worry about it and that he could handle the contradictory material. I was very impressed by that. A lot of instructors would have simply belittled the camp counselors for not teaching the latest techniques. But Jen was more concerned that he understand the information and that he be ready to use it without confusion if the need ever occurred. I feel she offers top notch instruction, at very reasonable cost. The enthusiasm for teaching Jen demonstrates makes her an instructor you will return to again and again for CPR and AED certification.

This is our first time using Jen Wilson for CPR training. It has been the best CPR class I can ever remember having. We did a lot of hands-on, team practice so we know how to work together with each other. She has a lot of experience and brings a lot of enthusiasm. She doesn't talk like a doctor, she talks like a real person. We will have her back in two years!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The pricing listed is per person provided you join an already scheduled class. We also have group pricing, which is much more affordable. Also available are Private classes, that can work around YOUR schedule. Please call if you need group pricing or a private class. If you are an individual, or you have 5 or less students, you will better served coming to our office in Champaign, IL. If you are a group of 6 or more, we can come to you. Prepayment is required for individuals. You can also register at our website.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When you call as a new customer, we find out which class will be the best fit for you time, budget and work needs. Then we schedule you and accept your payment. Once your class is over and you successfully completed all the requirements, you will receive a completion card good for two years. Our goal is to ensure that every student receives their card the same day of the class. In addition, you will also receive a notice when it's time to recertify.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As an American Heart Association BLS instructor, I have a minimum amount of classes to complete per certification period. I have to be monitored by a superior, once every two years. I keep my Emergency Medical Technician license up to date which requires 120 hours of continuing education every 4 years. I follow the trades, the journals, attend numerous conventions and conferences; all related to the field of cardiac resuscitation and emergency medicine.
