Helena did an incredible job on my makeup and my bridesmaid's makeup for my wedding! I had a trial with another makeup artist done and I looked horrible, so it made me nervous to have my makeup professionally done especially for such an important moment that I will always remember. Helena made my worries disappear! She spent time talking through the steps with me and even gave me helpful advice on what makeup to use. Her prices were affordable for her quality of work. Helena and her assistant were great at using certain makeup for different ethnicities as well especially with my maid of honor who is Asian and she did an amazing job with her makeup. Helena is nothing short of amazing!! She came to my home on NYE to do a make up look for a wedding I was attending that night. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer I really go above and beyond when it comes to communication. Its very important to make sure i know exactly what the customer likes and doesn't like, as well as what they want to look like. Its there day, I am there to make it easier.
Also, preferably I like to schedule a consultation before the event, to talk about ideas and also to do a trial run. I don't believe in winging it, unless we are talking about eyeliner ;), preparation is everything.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was younger I was never someone who loved artistic outlets, I was a sports kind of girl. The reason why is because I was never really good at art, until I was 11 years old and started playing in my mom's limited makeup. Then I started watching YouTube videos and practicing. I found my creative outlet and I always felt at peace when doing someone's makeup.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I am not a makeup artist for only one type of woman, I have done makeup for every different kind of skin tone and skin type.
