FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I provide private lessons to students aged 5 and up. Many of my students over the years have been beginners with no experience whatsoever. For these students, I provide them with a solid foundation in technique, music theory (reading notation, chords, etc), and various musical genres. With my more advanced students, we focus on styles that they are interested in. We continue to work on technique and theory, though I do not require that they read music notation (but I do encourage it). Advanced concepts that I have worked with students on include classical guitar, advanced harmony/chord voicings, improvising, and more.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Many people believe that for a beginning music student, any teacher who can provide them with the fundamentals is adequate. This is far from the truth, however. If the instructor is not properly trained, they can miss providing students with key elements to their playing. A perfect example is in relation to technique. Many self-taught guitarists do not have a proper technique, which can oftentimes lead to injuries. Proper technique also ensures more accurate playing. Bad habits are hard to break after they set in, so it is important to learn the correct way from the beginning.
