FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing - its not about price - its about value - its about your rate of return on design. Will your property be worth more than the sum of its parts? If well designed, yes. Do better detailed architectural designs result in more competitive construction numbers? Absolutely. It'll cost the same amount in construction to build an ugly project as to build an exciting one. Architect's fees are typically less than the contractor's contingency line item and yet we leverage your bigger dollars of construction, maintenance, and energy consumption.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We always start with a Needs and Options Review or Initial Site. Low cost, no commitment. You are listened to attentively. You get feedback from us for clarity as, together, we help you define the target. You get an analysis of existing conditions and challenges/opportunities involved with the project. You learn about various project delivery systems (there is no one size/fits all) and gain some perspective on probable construction costs. $500 - credited to your project should you decide to proceed with us. $350 for Thumbtack clients. (within our geography)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Education and training - love that question as I am also an adjunct professor of architecture and education matters. Me? In addition to being a licensed architect in several states, NCARB (national council of architectural review boards), ArCH (Architects Creating Homes), AIA (American Institute of Architects, Emeritus), LEED (leadership in environmental and energy saving design), MBA in finance, author, speaker nationally and internationally, international awards. Greatest accomplishment to date? Ten grandkids!
