Susie was awesome. She was very knowledgeable and thorough, she helped develop and establish behaviors in our 7 month old Great Dane. She genuinely conveyed a deep passion for helping. I would recommend her for anyone seeking positive and sustainable training for their dog.

Belinda provided excellent care for our dog. Our dog, being a rescue dog, required specialized care in which she delivered; this included having patience, providing lots of attention, and staying overnight. All of which she did all eagerly. Belinda came to our house on a couple different occasions so our dog could become familiar with her. She even brought our Pebbles a new toy and treats! She maintained communication with us while we were away, providing updates and sending pictures. While it was difficult to leave our dog (specially being new to this state) I did find comfort knowing she and our house were being well cared for. Belinda is truly a sweet and caring person to owners and their pets as well as honest and responsible. We will definitely be using her services again:)! Thank you Belinda! We greatly appreciate all you have done for us!

I hired Kim to help me train my young puppy whom I'd already somewhat spoiled. I was looking for help with puppy biting and jumping, setting rules and making him understand them and sticking to obedience training, which I find sorta boring. Kim was working the second she stepped through my door, showing me how to deal with the jumping and explaining my dog's body signals to me. She was funny and interesting to work with, not only told me what to do but WHY it works and went a step beyond what I'd gotten from trainers in dog class as far as connecting the pieces for me. She demoed every trick and technique she was showing me and made me feel like I can easily incorporate her tips into our daily life. I am very excited that I now have a more interesting approach to training my pup. I was a bit overwhelmed by all the information at the end of our time together and I think Kim could tell because she summed up what things I will need to work on with him. She gave me a clear plan of when I'd hear from her next so we could discuss challenges and progress and gave me options for working for her in the future if I chose to. I am definitely going to work with Kim again to see if I can improve the relationship between my dog and my boyfriend's dog and teach my pup how to nicely walk on a loose leash.

Working with with Pawfect Dog Training was an amazing experience. We adopted a new puppy from the shelter and wanted to crate train her, so she would be comfortable in her crate when we were not home. Matthew did a great job training our dog to go into the crate on her own and feel comfortable in there. More importantly he helped teach us the right way to train her and taught us how to keep up with that training to get positive results. After only a few weeks of working with Pawfect and keeping up with our training at home, our puppy had no problem going in her crate on her own. Now she is so comfortable with her crate that she will go relax in there even when we are home! I definitely recommend anybody to work with Pawfect Dog Training to help train their dogs!

I was having issues with my boy Brunswick. I had taken him to a different dog training program. It just wasn't enough for my stubborn boy. I needed an extensive in-resident program. Leslie was able to get him in immediately. She thoroughly explained what she was going to do to help me and Brunswick. I thought if he learned only half of what she said I would be happy. He was a bit overweight. He slimmed down and looks great. Leslie made some recommendations to his diet and he loves it. It also saves me some money. The program was not just for him. It was also for me. I am becoming a better dog handler. I am more confident in what I can do with Brunswick. When I have questions, Leslie responds quickly. I am so glad I found The Educated Canine. I wish I had known about her a year ago.

Leslie put me at ease the moment she walked through my front door! She is so easy to talk to about any issues concerning my dog and takes the time and care to personalize training to that dogs needs. Her training method allows for the puppy parent to both see Leslie herself do it and then for me to do it myself, since us humans needs training too! It's very crucial that the puppy parents takes and use her guidance as it will pay off immensely! My puppy, Rhett, was constantly love biting for attention and bothering us during non play time, like dinner. Thanks to her training (me and Rhett that is, lol), he is not nipping and knows when we go to eat, it's not play time. He's also much improved with greetings, has better focus, and is well in his way to be an excellent Canine Citizen! We love, Leslie! 2 paws up! !

Here is a little history, we adopted a tree walker coonhound from a shelter in Tennessee and brought him home to Wisconsin. The first month was ok as we all got adjusted to each other. There were counter surfing, mouthing and dominance issues from the beginning. We knew we had a stubborn ALPHA, ALPHA male but we were working through it. The dog and I had an altercation over a rawhide where he became very aggressive and tried to bite me. From that day forward he would try to attack me unsolicited any time he saw me or heard my voice. It got so bad I would have to lock myself in a room so my wife could let him out. I am 6',1" tall and 220 lbs, this is the first time in my life with all the dogs I've owned that I was afraid of a dog. We talked to many behaviorist's whom all said we should just rehome the dog and had no answers for us. I was determined not to give up and make things work because I knew that this was a good dog deep down inside. That is when I was recommend to Shelly at "Hair of the dog that bit ya". I got a great feeling from her right away on the phone and was intrigued by her explanation of how she handles her training of dogs (it was a much different approach from what I was hearing from everyone else). This is a large breed hunting dog who is aggressive and she knew exactly how to handle it. She came out the very next morning to a situation where everyone in the house was uneasy and afraid of this dog who now was in total control of the situation. Long story short after two hours Shelly had broken the dog had him taking commands from both my wife and myself. We felt like we had our lives back and believe it or not the dog seemed happier that he now knew the pecking order. This was truly a Christmas miracle for my entire family. The picture attached is from the same day where that morning my dog wanted to kill me and what he was like by the afternoon! I cannot thank Shelly enough and I am so excited for our new life together with Bohannon. Todd & Shelly Bloom

As a first time dog owner I have learned that the process to a well behaved dog is the training of both the dog AND the owners. Our rescue one year old Birder Collie/Australian Shepard mix was pretty well behaved indoors and in our yard but had a very aggressive issue when meeting new digs and people. He could not be trusted to not bite either. After one session with Lynn and homework he was 100% better. After the second session I have little fear of having a problem. Buddy still needs some work however the change has been dramatic. Lynn comes to your home with written plans and homework assignments. Hire Lynn, you will not be disappointed. Jeff Wadsworth

Are experience was truly amazing! We have a 1 year old German Shepard mix that is high energy and within the first half hour Dee had her understanding commands like sit, bed, lie down and stay. She also showed us how to get her to stop jumping and nipping. Not only was the training great and effective but her recommendations for items to help walking and keeping her busy while we are not home were as well. We also really liked that she is very passionate at helping dogs and and their owners and that was very evident because she works with you during first appointment and then if you need any extra help you can text, call or email her! I would highly recommend this dog trainer!!

Jim was the best! In 5 weeks (really just after the first lesson!) I had the confidence and tools to maintain my dog’s training. It made the world of difference walking my dog, Barney, each day when he would walk by my side and sit on command versus pulling the leashing and leading me. Barney loves our walks together, and I do too! He sits, stays and comes on command! I can't thank Jim enough for his patience and positive energy. His passion for dogs is obvious and I would recommend him to any/all families in need of training! Katie G.

I could not say enough good things about working with Stephanie when it came to training my dog. I have a rambunctious bulldog who's a year and a half. Nothing but behavioral problems, nipping, chewing things, eating things, and not coming when called. She was always on time, patient with my dog and myself, and made me feel comfortable with having her take care of my pup. I would HIGHLY recommend having her train your dog. I was thoroughly impressed to say the least!! I fully intend on utilizing this training in the future with future dogs as well.

Jeanie Murray: Well, seven years ago Tom McMurchie worked with me and my 1-year old Labradoodle, Rush, in Phoenix AZ. I don't have adequate words to explain how wonderful the experience was. Tom was knowledgeable, professional, patient, humane, and just darn perfect. He trained me as well to make Rush an awesome, well-mannered family member. Then, Tom moved to Chicago. Rush is 8 years old (still perfect), but Tom has always been available for me to talk to him on the phone with dog-training advice. Then we brought a second Labradoodle into our home at 8 weeks old, Reagan. Do I ever wish Tom was still here to work with me and Reagan, who is a work in progress (almost 3 years old now). Actually, Tom did advise from afar when I had questions about Reagan. If you are looking for that perfect person to work with you and your dog, don't look any further than Tom McMurchie. Thanks, Tom!

I would highly recommend Julie to any of my friends (and have) that want to train their dogs. I like that she comes to your house. She was very helpful in giving me a different approach to training that is more my style of training. I have started using the techniques she has shown me in the past few days and my dog has shown improvements.

Nicole called me back in a timely matter. She was extremely professional. Her prices were average for this area. I’m from San Diego, where I thought the price would be higher but they are about twice the price here. Shocked me. She was the 5th dog walking service I spoke to, but the 1st I interviewed. My dog took to her immediately! He does not do this to everyone, as he is extremely protective! So, that was a very positive sign. She brought one of her walkers with as they will be helping to walk my dog and he loved her as well! He went on a walk with Nicole already and loved it. When they got back he got a snack and was happy as can be! She also met all 3 of my cats, so if I need her too she can also care for them. I’m very happy I was put in contact with Mutts in A Rutt!

Entrusting Mr. Barkypants, my first-born son, to a dog walker is akin to how I imagine it might feel to someday entrust a less furry child of mine to a nanny: He/She sure as hell better be committed, conscientious, able to survive blizzards*, and love Mr. Barkypants as his/her own. Using this (perhaps slightly unreasonable) standard, I interviewed many, many dog walkers before I found Walks With Zara Chicago Dog Wlalkers, a dog walking company that Russell and his business partner own and operate. Though I haven't yet had to put them to the blizzard test*, it is clear that Russell is an excellent dog walker and human being. I feel strongly about not having just any random person walk Mr. Barkypants: I've witnessed how some walkers who work at larger operations treat (or rather mistreat) the 5-10 dogs they walk at once. Sadly, it doesn't seem uncommon for some dog walkers, on the north-side at least, to roughly yank leashes or yell and scream at dogs, or to refuse to stop walking to allow one of their charges to use the little dog's room, or to tie dogs up to a post in the park while the walker enjoys a cigarette and long chat with his friends. I am confident that Russell does NOT do this; Mr. Barkypants would probably behave very differently with him than he does. Interestingly, though Mr. Barkypants isn't terribly fond of strangers and he is particularly non-fond of strangers who are male and who wear hats, he took to the hat-wearing Russell like he took to liver treats from the first or second walk on. Russell has a gentle, quiet, calm, non-domineering manner with dogs (and humans, really). He isn't embarrassed about speaking to dogs in goofy voices -- a talent I quite appreciate. Moreover, wrt his human dealings, too, Russell is prompt and as honest as Abe: He lets us know when he isn't able to walk a full hour (because of severe weather or sickness) and deducts from his pay despite our asking him to take the full amount. Rates, by the way, are extremely reasonable for Chicago dog walking, especially since Mr. Barkypants gets Russell all to himself on walks. According to their website, Russell is bonded and insured as a dog walker and is a member of the Association of pet sitters. I can speak with knowledge about Russell's excellent credentials as a dog walker. He *will* treat your dogs with respect and patience -- or at least I'm pretty sure they will based on how they've treated my first born son. I can't recommend him enough.
