Fence install. Quick response, even faster scheduled and built. We had a need for a fence quickly (new dog) and these guys pulled it off in less than one week, from first contact to job complete. Professional, courteous, and did a great job. Fence looks great! Thank you!

Initially I was nervous to use a small company that I couldn't really find reviews for on the main sites (Angies list, yelp, etc.). However, Shannon with Above the Rest Construction exceeded all of my expectations. Not only was his price significantly lower than most other fencing companies that provided estimates, the quality of his work was amazing. When I compare our fence to other similar fences in our neighborhood, ours looks better, is sturdier (thanks to an additional board used to prevent bowing of the planks), and has a nicer gate. You won't be disappointed in Above the Rest Construction's quality fencing.

We had Zach install a new ceiling fan, lay flooring in the attic, replace a fence post and repair a small roof leak. His work was efficient and high quality. Kind of guy you can trust with the keys to your house while at work. We plan on having him work on other projects.

Tim and crew recently installed all new windows in my home PLUS built a sunroom edition. Beautiful work. Nothing was left undone. No issues to call him about. I couldn't be happier. Tim has also built me a 56 foot deck, put up a privacy fence and built me a new 12 X 12 shed. He is the only contractor I call. :-)

E & E Home Services came to my home to replace a portion of my deck that had become unsafe to walk on and replace a few boards on my privacy fence. The worker that showed up was actually the owner of the business and he was very punctual and started the repairs right away. He was a pleasant man and very polite and clean. He was very comfortable to be around. Rick finished the work in a timely manner and made sure to clean up the area in which he worked. I am very satisfied with the service that was provided to me.

Travis and his crew did a wonderful job installing a couple of concrete walkways at our property. His crew was very pleasant, courteous, and easy to talk with. I have no experienced with concrete projects so I have little to compare with, however, I would have liked the area cleaned up a bit more after the work was completed - some residual concrete on fencing, vinyl siding, wood left in the yard, and tape on the window. Overall, we are very happy with the work and we plan to use this company for our next concrete project - concrete pad for a steel building.

Brandon Spears is a very rare breed in the construction industry. I have had numerous bad experiences with a variety of contractors. In stark contrast, Brandon is one of the best that I have dealt with. Brandon is a perfectionist. He cares deeply about keeping his promises to customers. He was always honest and above board and made sure to include me in all decisions from material quality and purchase to installation details. The result was a beautifil fence that is perfectly intalled. I would encourage anyone considering a fence installation to give Brandon a chance to bid on the contract. One thing I can say is that Brandon is a man of his word. I have not found this to be the case with any other contractor that I have worked with in the last 40 years.

We had Indy & Beyond come out to replace a section of privacy fence that our dog knocked over. They showed us how poorly our fence had been constructed (which was only 2 years old!). Unfortunately, we were forced to have the entire fence replaced or risked our dog tearing down the rest of the old fence. The good news is, Indy & Beyond gave us a great deal on a fence that is installed properly and will hopefully last us a lifetime. We are very pleased with this company and will use them again for sure, as well as recommend them to others.

Andrew and his helper built a beautiful privacy fence for me over a year ago and we loved it so much we hired them again to put in a kitchen backsplash and a few other smaller projects at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend AnTy Services and would gladly hire them again.

    1. Repainted exterior of three story, 3 color Victorian house, did all associated carpentry and scraping, re-floored (including hand sand and stain) exterior porch, repaired and replaced gutters, re-painted interior of house. 2. Fixed burst pipes, replaced all powdered mortar in basement, insulated basement. 3. Built and installed permanent attic stairs. 4. Landscaping including entire yard till and re-seed, multiple plantings, and fence repair. Absolutely perfect! I have renovated three antique homes before this one and have never had a contractor like Eleazar and the Emarias Group before. They were very reasonably priced, stayed on budget, always arrived when expected, did the best quality work I have ever had, always cleaned up at the end of the day, and even brought me lunch on occasion! I found I could trust Eleazar and his group completely, so much so that they often worked inside the house when I was out of state. I initially made contact with Eleazar when another home in my area was being renovated. I was able to observe daily the differences between the Emarias crew and the rest of the contractors on site. I know that this home owner eventually booted everyone else and now uses Emarias exclusively. At my recommendation, four of my neighbors had their homes painted by Emarias. One neighbor also had a bathroom remodel done. All are Eleazar and Emarias Group devotees now!

Easy to work with, fair quotes, quick response and got the job done. Very knowledgeable and versatile, will tackle any job, while being honest in pricing, recommendations on how job to be done and suggested options. From lawn care, to fence repair to demolition and removal of dilapidated shed, went above and beyond expectations. Recommend highly.

Keith and Isaac did a fabulous job for us, building a completely custom 6' pine privacy fence to enclose our backyard. The fence measured about 200 linear feet and included two gates. Our job was started and completed less than 2 weeks from the date of hire with prompt communication. They were also very professional and very respectful. Their strong work ethic was so apparent, arriving exactly when they said they would--even in cold weather! Every step of the way, they had our satisfaction in mind. If there was an aesthetic that they weren't sure about, they made sure to ask our preferences and gave us options along the way. They absolutely knew what they were doing, and this made us feel very secure in our choice of American Vet's Home Repair. I would absolutely hire them again, and, in fact, already have! They will be out once the ground thaws to remove a large, unsightly shrub. We also plan to hire them to stain and seal our deck, as well as the fence they built, sometime at the end of this summer once the wood has had time to settle/weather a bit longer. Thanks Keith and Isaac!

Mike at Stevens Property Group is a true professional. His craftmanship is outstanding. We have used him for numerous jobs and all have been completed excellently. From hanging chandeliers, finishing our garage, adding diming lights to our rooms, building a privacy fence and the list goes on! The most notable is the custom "cat hole"he created. A doorway made specifically for the cat to get into the basement. We receive more compliments on this than I could have possibly imagined! He is a true jack of all trades and I would recommend his services to anyone!

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

          • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
          • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
          • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
          • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
          • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
          • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

          • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
          • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
          • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
          • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
          • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
          • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
          • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
          • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
