FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Since I only graduated a few years ago I haven't done any further formal education on the topic. I am always reading articles and photographic tricks and tips though and am currently working on gaining more photography equipment and experience.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been involved in art since I was a little girl. When I was little, it was mostly drawing and painting, but once I got into high school and college my portfolio grew much bigger into ceramics, metalsmithing, bookmaking, photography, woodworking, graphic design, what ever I wanted! Out of all of the things I had done, photography seemed like a feasible career where I could still incorporate many of my other skill sets. My college thesis for my degree in photography was also a lot of metal work :) http://mol-doll.com/portfolio/photography/fine-art/bfs-thesis-spring-2012/
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't always go for the cheapest photographer in town. You usually pay for what you get. Make sure they have a portfolio to view and a variety of experience. Every photo shoot is different so the more experience the photographer has the more likely you will get amazing photographs. But also remember, just because a photographer has been in the business for 10+ years doesn't mean that they will have the best photographs either. Some photographers can be outdated in their style and their editing capabilities. Make sure you're not just paying more for a name.
