I don't not have enough time to say how amazing this place is. It has been great for our family opening us up to the world of horses. Cheryl is the world's most patient person with my daughter. All the instructors teach much more than how to ride, they teach a love and respect for the horse, facility, and sport. The facility is beautiful. Well kept. We went from "trying out " horse riding to now 3 months in, 2 of us in the family our doing lessons. Love Select Show. Excited for what the future holds at such a great barn.

Hello! I am happy to meet you! Here is a little about my training and specialties as an equestrian. I hope you find what you are looking for. I have been riding horses for about twelve years now. Most of the riding I do is western trail riding, though I also have dabbled in introductory English and contesting. I have ridden many different kinds of horses including all genders, Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Arabians, POAs, Morgans, Tennessee Walkers, and Paints. These horses have had all kinds of personalities and specialties. My specialty is providing "bomb-proofing" lessons, working with the "higher-strung" horses, and preparing horses to be ridden after having some time off. My personal horses were a Thoroughbred gelding and an Arabian mare that I used for 4H, contesting, pleasure riding, and trail riding. I have helped lead students on trail riding excursions that included scaling mountains, crossing rivers, and traversing ravines. I was trained in trail riding by a great cowboy who has ridden rugged mountain trails his entire life. I even wrote an entire book on the basics of trail riding and how to have a successful, fun ride. I retrained a dominant Thoroughbred gelding to be a children's therapy horse, as well. I also taught riding lessons at very successful summer camp (Camp Tecumseh) last summer. My specialty in lessons is horsemanship and ground handling through cantering/loping for very novice through intermediate riders. I also provide horse and pet-sitting services. Owning my own horses for many years, working as a groom on a Thoroughbred breeding farm near Lexington, Kentucky, and horse-sitting for clients, I have learned that attention to detail, a good knowledge of equine care, and a genuine care for clients are paramount for clients being able to enjoy their time away from home. I have a lot of practical experience in the daily care of horses and will have a double Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Equine Science from Colorado State University in May 2015. I would love to help you enjoy your vacation or time away from home by providing quality care for your horses and other animals. So, if you want to make sure your horse is ready for warm weather riding after a winter off, if you would like beginner-intermediate lessons, or if you need someone to "pet-sit" your horse and/or other animals, please give me a call. I would be more than happy to assist you and your equine partner in achieving a great year of riding and working together! Please feel free to contact me for questions about my training methods, riding methods, lesson plans, and pet-care philosophies. I hope we can work together! Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Allyssa
Saylor's End of the Trail Riding Stable, located in northern Indiana, at Koontz Lake, offers hourly horseback riding, pony parties, group outings, horseback camping trips, and carriage, sleigh and wagon services. We welcome and enjoy hosting groups at the stables. With safety in mind, and to make the ride more enjoyable, we like to take 1-8 at a time. For state park rides, we will haul the horses to one of the two local state parks and spend at least 4 hours in the park. We offer camping trips with horseback riding. We enjoy camping and riding at many places, including most of the Indiana state parks. The state parks in northern Indiana that we enjoy include Potato Creek, Tippecanoe River and Salamonie River State Forest. In southern Indiana, we enjoy O'Bannon Woods State Park, Clark State Forest, and Brown County State Park. All are peaceful for wilderness riding, but southern Indian has more challenging trails and hills. We offer a couple of option for pony rides. We can haul one or more ponies to the child's birthday party, family reunion, company picnic, or other gathering. A second option is to host your party at the End of the Trail Stable. A wide, open field to run in, a fantasy fort, (swings, monkey bars and slide) to play on, basketball, volleyball, nature hike in the woods, a pony ride, a horse-drawn wagon ride, picnic tables under a tent, and can start a campfire for roasting hot dogs, marshmallow, etc. Sleigh rides are always a favorite to enhances any winter time party or a "Christmas in July" party. We offer carriage rides for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, proms, homecomings, or any special occasions.
I am a certified riding instructor, offering both English and western riding lessons. I specialize in starting beginner riders and children and also offer advanced students lessons in events, like barrel racing, trail class, jumping, dressage, and English or western pleasure. My lessons are well-rounded and also include horse care and training tips. I am also a professional horse trainer that uses only natural horsemanship techniques in my training program. I work with both stock and gaited breeds. I offer colt starting, problem solving, and can finish horses for the show ring.
