From my nine years of dog training experience, I will work with you to develop a successful and customized training program that will fit both you and your dog's needs. This will result in the kind of family life you and your dog desire. This is achieved through force free, reward based training that will have your dog finding value in behaving in the ways that you prefer. I will never use fear or pain in my training. I will also make sure that you have the skills that you need to maintain those behaviors. I provide all of this in the comfort of your home or other locations that you may prefer. Takacs In-Home Dog Training is an LL and is also an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau.
My dedicated client work, shelter training as well as my past and continuing education allows me to assist dogs and their families in achieving success in the face of their own challenges. I specialize in puppies, obedience training, anxiety and fear, and other behavioral modification as well as building a sound transitional program for your newly adopted rescue or shelter dog.
If your dog is from a shelter or rescue I will make a financial donation to that rescue from your paid fees. I do have no interest payment plans available. I will also provide free support by phone, email or text for the lifetime of your dog after our training program is completed. The most rewarding part of this job is seeing the happiness that comes from a well behaved dog. Successful training is also about saving lives and creating a forever home for everyone involved. That is the most fulfilling part for me.

Chris was so great with Maya he showed patience, was very reliable, and got right to it. At first I thought my dog can not be trainable well in one day he showed so much and maya responded so well it was amazing. I had to continue as it took time and took in his advice did my homework Maya is better then ever. I have a better understanding of my puppy think it brought us closer together. I have a five year old and he enjoyed watching Chris train Maya, one day he wants to help out and be a trainer (he still loves playing the games and training his puppy) Chris set a great example. Chris was very quick to respond to my request for dogtraining. Our little beagle corgi mix was beginning to react very aggressively on walks towards strangers and other dogs and the big brother lab/husky was also starting to jump too much and become more aggressive towards strange dogs making me anxious and stressed along with them. Finn being the smaller dog was constantly anxiety ridden in the apartment and on walks. Chris did a consultation over the phone to assess our needs and quickly gave us tips over the phone to immediately start working towards remediation. The trainings were fun and informative and best of all we got the big boy off the prong collar that a previous trainer had recommended we use to manage his strength. The boys are happier and better behaved and we’re better prepared than ever with a myriad of tools to keep them calm and us less stressed! Chris has been a life saver and we’re super pleased with the results!

Chris was great to work with and extremely knowledgeable. We had a lot of challenges when we brought a puppy into our household with our older dog. Chris helped us figure out ways to make them coexisting manageable. He also helped us get our new puppy off to a great start with basic training. I would definitely recommend Takacs DogTraining.

I contacted Chris on night 1 of getting my puppy while freaking out after our corgi had just gone to the bathroom in the house for the 4th time in a row. Chris got back to me that night and we connected and our dog has been better ever since. I couldnt be happier to have selected Chris to do puppy training with. After a few sessions our corgi can now sit, stay, come on command and is all around a calmer dog. He even knows the difference between blue and yellow! We live in Lakeview for anyone looking for a trainer down here. I highly recommend!

My dog suffered from separation anxiety as well as leash aggression with other dogs. I was hoping to find some methods to combat these issues, and I am beyond impressed on the progress we have made. Chris has incredible tactics that work so well and so quickly! I am to the point where I can take my pup anywhere without being nervous about her behavior. Her progress has been incredible - you can tell she has lots of confidence in herself now! Chris is wonderful and so easy to work with! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My single session fee is $125. A four session Obedience Program is $550. A five session Puppy Kindergarten Program or a five session Anxiety and Fear Program is $625. Payment plans are available. I will provide free training support via phone, text or email for the life of your dog. If you adopted your dog from a rescue or shelter a portion of your paid fees will be donated to that shelter.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will first conduct a free phone consultation where I will learn all I can about your needs for you and your dog. This will allow me to provide a training program built specifically to you and your dog's needs. I will also provide you with all of the information that you feel you need to know about myself and my training methods which are force free and positive reinforcement. We will then decide together the type and length of training that will be best suited for your dog. We will then set up an appointment for your first training session in your home. Hopefully everyone in the home can attend this first session. I will also at that time give you insight in training that you can begin before the first session.
The first session will begin by going back over the information that was gained in the phone consultation with everyone in attendance. This will ensure that all of us are on the same page. As I begin to work with your dog I will begin including everyone in attendance to participate as well. This will allow you to learn and be comfortable with the training homework that will be needed to achieve your desired behavior in your dog. Everyone's participation on a consistent basis is the key to a successful dog training program.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my training and certificate from the FernDog Trainer Academy. I also attend additional seminars and programs to pursue continuing education. I am a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.
