The movers were exactly on time and were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I'm very pleased with their work and will recommend them if ever asked. The only complaint I have is that when Mike Porter and I were first discussing the situation via email, I asked if he would accept a check and received the answer "Sure." Then when the movers arrived, they said that they did not accept personal checks. Fortunately, I was able to come up with the cash. I don't know what caused this miscommunication. Otherwise, I was happy with everything else.

Best Moving Experience Ever! We moved out of a four bedroom house into a five bedroom house with stairs involved. We were given an option of hourly or a free onsite estimate to be given a flat rate. We decided on the flat rate. For the service we received the pricing was excellent. Movers wrapped all furniture and were very careful with all items. Scheduling was easy and we received a courtesy call when they were on their way. Movers were very professional and polite and went over and beyond to ensure our belongings made it safety and were placed exactly where we wanted. I will be using Andre's All Around Moving in the future and will recommend to all of my family and friends.

Worth every penny. I had a 2 part long distance move with me moving items from Jacksonville and St Augustine FL, going one-way to Louisiana. Friends and family thought I was nuts for hiring movers when just renting a truck and having them help would save us money. In past experiences, this has led to damaged furniture, sore backs, countless drive hours to then have to unload my items. Since my family/friends are a decade older than the last I moved I decided to spend a little extra to hire professionals. The overall cost was much much less than I expected. And definitely cheaper than back surgery co-pays and cost of missed time from work for recovery. The experience was wonderful. From setting everything up ahead of time, booking the move date, knowing what to expect, and what was expected of me. The two men arrived on time. They used the utmost care and caution to wrap my furniture in moving pads and then plastic wrap. They did everything effeciently with no lolly gagging in between. Once my furniture was in the truck, it was strapped to the sides to prevent movement or damage which I really liked. They truly exemplified what being a professional mover is. I highly recommend 7 Day Movers for an easy, affordable, and worry free moving experience.

Veterans Moving and Storage made my long distance move stress free. They helped me through every step of the moving process and checked in with me regularly. Veterans communicated with the drivers and and packers to make sure that everyone was managed properly leaving me with nothing to worry about. Moving can often feel like a 2nd job. It was a pleasure to work with professionals who are reliable and took the time commitment off of my plate. I will only use Veterans whenever I move and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to feel comfortable during a hectic time in their lives.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
