Was great to help me put some furniture togehter
John Mark Power responded very promptly to our request for a quote and he showed up at our house within a day or two to see the furniture himself. He provided a timely quote and was very knowledgeable about the furniture. He has upholsterers that he works with and makes the process seamless.
In planning our move from Northern Virginia to our home in Florida, My wife and I faced a potentially costly issue with having to replace our dining room table and buffet set, because the 104" long table would not fit into the considerably smaller dining room in our new home in Florida. Although we really did not want to replace the set, we had already conceded that we would have to run a local Craigslist ad, and hopefully be able to find a buyer who would offer us pennies on a dollar for the set, or have to give it away for free before the movers show up in 30 days. My wife was already looking at $5,000 replacement sets. Ouch! Running out of time, I thought if I could find a skilled woodworking craftsman that would take on a small but challenging project such cutting down a table top by about 20", we may be able to make the dining set work in the new home. Through Thumbtack, I described the project, received a list of potential woodworkers, and solicited to a half dozen furniture builders for the project. I received a response from only one individual, Gerry Hurley of Max Min Design. I read the reviews of Gerry's work, and impressed by the photos of his past projects, we hired Gerry. Gerry's price to do the project was very reasonable, and in addition, he said that he would be able to complete the job in ample time before the movers show up. Gerry got right on it. He came to the house with the right tools and was able to do a fantastic job; cutting down the table top, making the necessary modifications to the under supports, shortening the finished side rails, and stained and finished the end cut surface to perfectly match the rest of the table. Gerry even used scrap from wood removed to make a number of matching wood plugs to cover all the new screw holes in the shortened side rails, to look exactly like the original construction. To look at the table now, it is impossible to detect that the table had ever been modified. In addition, Gerry also stained and finished the 20" section that was removed so that I can possibly use later for a nice sized matching coffee table. All I need to do is add the four legs. Gerry, I welcome you and your good ethical nature to this USA. The end product and the professionalism you show in your work clearly portrays the pride you take in your skill and craftsmanship. A great job Gerry! Thank you!
Had to have 4 ottoman legs remade. The originals were lost in a move. Service and quality of work and pricing were all outstanding. Great selection of furniture in his Kensington Md show room.
Henry came in and fixed my broken piece of furniture in about 20 minutes for about 20 percent of the cost I would have incurred by throwing away the furniture and buying new furniture.
Greg did a great job! He was very accommodating to our requests, capable and reasonable on price. We're very pleased with the floating shelves he made for us and plan to use his services for custom carpentry in the future. Thx Greg!!
They did a great job fixing my sub floors! No complaints about the quality at all. The gentleman even broomed and vacuumed when he was done. He did have to saw the plywood to take it apart and out of the house. I asked if I should cover my furniture and couch with a sheet to avoid cleaning up sawdust and he said no it's ok. But unfortunately saw dust did get on all that so I did clean up when he left. Maybe he didn't understand my question not sure. But definitely worth the quality and super nice and pleasant people and I will definitely use them again in the future!
If you’re in need of a reliable, honest and get-it-done general contractor for your home remodeling needs, Al and his crew are the GO TO GUYS! We recently had a rather large basement remodel project where we took an unfinished space (approx.. 900 sq. feet) to a home office/ dental laboratory finish. There were a lot of moving parts involved – all new electrical/ mechanical/ plumbing; installation of egress & small sliding window(s), walk-out door w/ retaining walls and pavement; added bathroom & work/equipment room. Al took the design plans from a paper to presence, and really worked with us to stay on time and on budget. From the initial consultation, he took his time to go over details of the project and provide us with a written proposal on the spot. What was also appreciated was that he used upgraded materials rather than standard builder supplies, which really makes a huge difference in appearance! Al and his guys are meticulous, detailed & very clean – at the end of each work day, the floors were always swept & materials put away. Another consideration for us was trust since my husband & I weren’t home during the day. I can say with complete confidence that you can trust Premier Home Services to do their job, in your home without supervision. We will definitely use them again for our next home project. Thanks Al!
Rob assembled furniture + completed tv install and ran all of the wires within the wall.
Craig was fabulous. He re-finished a rocking chair(stripped multiple layers of paint down to the wood and stained/sealed/polished). It looks fabulous. We had planned on putting the chair in our finished basement. However, the chair looks so good, it will be promoted to either our living room or bedroom. I could not recommend more highly!!!
Prompt, courteous, and did a great job on assembling my furniture. Highly recommend.
Beautiful workmanship, exceeded completion date expectation, very nice to work with.. All in all a wonderful experience (not always easy to find these days). I have finally found someone that builds furniture like my dad used to.
Carlos repaired a damaged dining room table and revived a dresser (that had also sustained damage in a move). Both pieces look fantastic, and he was able to do the repairs in my home, which was great since I had no way to move large furniture. He promptly provided a written estimate via email and called and arrived exactly on time as promised. Overall a great experience, thank you!
Michael at IWD is great to work with. He was responsive to my needs, offered suggestions, and was receptive to several changes. He has great attention to detail. The finished product (a bookcase) is of high quality and I have already received multiple compliments from family and friends. Many want to know where I "bought" the bookcase. I will definitely use Michael for future projects.
From the selection of the fabrics to the delivery of the furniture, everyone at Mill End Shops was easy to work with. They did a fabulous job.
Justin is awesome, he has a lot of experience and gets the job done for you. I consider myself adept at handyman jobs but this furniture piece was a nightmare. Justin had assembled it for me in less than 3 hours. I would definitely recommend him for your handyman jobs
Langston refinished and stained my parents old furniture - three dressers. I wanted to match the color to some new furniture. Langston was friendly and professional, and I'm very pleased with the result. He takes a lot of pride in his work.

This is the second job 5th Gen has done for us (the first was a kitchen remodel two years ago), and the experience has been excellent. These folks are craftsmen. The custom cabinets and shelves are beautiful, like a high quality piece of furniture. The individuals doing the work are very pleasant and have been careful to consult us before making any decisions about the work. This work was largely in our living room, and they cleaned up completely at the end of each day so that we could use the room in the evening. We woud hire them again in the future, and probably will. It took a while to get the job started as their schedule is full, but no different from other contractors, in our experience.
