Chris was fantastic! I waited until now (about a month after Chris helped me) to write this because I wanted to make sure I could explain just how invaluable he was to fixing my PC. He was able to identify the problem to a specific part, which allowed me to replace that and get my computer up and running again! He was very willing and able to answer all my questions and I even learned something about computer repair. Could not recommend him more.
I had an external USB hard drive that was dropped and stopped working. Ultimately, Phillip didn't recover my data, so I was torn between a 4 and 5 star rating. I went with 5 because he did exactly what he said, did it quickly and on my schedule - working on a weekend, and he charged a reasonable price. His approach to cost was good for an exploratory repair. He charges a small amount for his time to investigate a problem, and more if he's able to restore the data. He swapped the controller card from another drive and the disk started to move. He didn't open up to get to the platters and the arm.
I can't say enough positive about Dynamic Technical Solutions. Fast, professional, highly competent, reasonably priced. Caliph came to my condo in Arlington, picked up my PC (which had a crashed out hard drive), fixed it while I was away on a two-day business trip, and delivered it back to me in perfect condition when I returned home. My hard drive was replaced and all of my data retrieved. Superb all around!
I live in Singapore. My Dell HD had crashed and I was advised by data recovery expert that drive heads were beyond repair and drive had to be sent to a clean room to access data from the drive platters in the US. Craig diagnosed my MacBook Air free of charge and once the issues had been explained to me, he then let me know all of my options for repair. Because my computer was already several years old, I had some questions about repairing it versus replacing it with a new one. Craig helped me weigh my options, and ultimately we decided to switch my hard drive into a used MacBook Air of the same year that he had in the shop. At no point during this process did I feel as though his primary interest was to get money out of me. I would recommend them to anyone in need of a computer repair!
Dmitry was fabulous. He was able to come to my home within a few hours of sending out the Thumbtack inquiry. He was very courteous and explained everything, managing to make a complete IT neophyte like me not feel out of my depth. He connected some of my devices, ran diagnostics on my hard drive-- getting rid some 'nasties', suggested some (free) virus protection, and gave some suggestions on how to speed up my computer' processing speed. Not so long ago something went wrong inside of my external hard drive and I almost lost all my files. Following my friends' advice, I contacted ACE Data Recovery. They were able to fix the issue and extract all my data from the dead drive! Frankly, I could hardly believe it was possible, but ACE engineers did their best and deserved my appreciation. Mark did an awesome job. He gave me two quotes and explained the differences. He did the job really quick (a repair on the power connector for a laptop) for what he quoted. He went out of his way to pick up the laptop and deliver it to me. I would use Mark for any future computer repairs.
I had two printers that needed repair, and I brought them to K&K Computers. The owner of the company was very friendly. Within the first day, I was informed that one of the printers was not worth repairing as it would cost more to repair it than to buy a new one (most people would say they already knew this, but the cost of ink made me believe repairing an old printer would be worth it). I was charged a diagnostic fee of $45 to learn this (which is explained up-front in their fee explanation). K&K then continued working on my other printer for another week, purchasing the new printhead which needed to be repaired. After two weeks of trying to fix the second printer--sitting on the phone with Epson people and trying various methods to resolve the problem, he rendered the printer not worth saving, as it would be more expensive than the printer itself. Although K&K Computers did not return a fixed printer to me, I give them 5 stars for working so hard, spending so many extra hours trying to resolve my printer's issues and only charging me that initial diagnostic fee per printer and the cost of the printhead ($120 total) when any other working person would charge by the hour. I was also very happy with the professionalism, the friendly demeanor, and the quick responses K&K had when I asked many questions throughout the process. He also offered additional help with my printer(s) in the future if I ever had any questions.
Richard Roseen's service was second to none. He is pleasant to work with and has a calm and laid back demeanor. He helped mount a tv to my wall, set-up my surround sound stereo system and also helped assemble a desk for my office. What made Richard so great to work with was his versatility in his ability to fix and put together anything you need for your home and office. He also provided recommendations and products vis-a-vis texts by sending links to specific products and places where I can order those products. He also picked up the tv mount when arriving to my home for assembly. So clearly he understands the demands in time for his clients and is willing to go the extra mile to get products prior to arriving to your home. This went above and beyond as to what I originally expected from him. I highly recommend Richard and plan to utilize his services in the near future.
Before I met Marcus Reed I had been caught in cell phone hell. Phone after phone,all Samsung Galaxy, I purchased had to be returned for one reason or another. My fourth purchase was a Blu Life View. They're a lot cheaper than a Galaxy and for good reason. They aren't any good. But then I gave that same phone to Marcus Reed. He turned a phone that was another disastrous purchase to one of the best phones I've ever had. With every rooted bell and whistle you can think of. At one point I called his work number and 10 pm. to ask a question about the phone. Thinking I'm just going to leave a message. Not only did he pick up but he solved my problem in a matter of seconds. I'm almost 60, which means I've been around long enough to know that it is hard to find a company as dedicated to their customers as IQ Computer Services. Not only do I recommend them, I've decided to stop buying 700 dollar phones that are obsolete a year later. A better idea is to purchase a "Like New" phone from Marcus Reed at IQ and save the five hundred you have left over for something else. And "no" I'm not related to the guy. I was impressed by Roland's bid proposal. He identified the potential problem and it turned out to be correct. He had the correct parts and fixed the problem in a short time. He also fixed another problem I was having with my security. I would call him again.
I purchased a new HP computer and found I was not able to set it up. I called John. He answered immediately and came right away. He connected my old printer, speakers, and monitor. He configured the software and drivers to make everything work. He set up security and used my old hard drive to back up my system automatically. I would call him again in a minute if I have any more computer problems. His personal touch is much better than holding the phone for "tech support." His "in home help" saved my day!!! I trust him over well meaning friends who think they know computers.

The bottom line was that they were able to recover my data. My only complaint was that I was led to believe that mine was an easy job that would likely be at the lower end of the cost estimate range. Once they got my damaged hard drive, the estimate turned out to be near the top of the estimate. Not sure whether this is their normal business practice or not.
I've known Paul Lozovsky for 20 years...he is the owner of Ace Computer. He taught me everything i know about desktop computers. But due to my failing health, and poor eyesight, I farm out a lot of work to him. Two weeks ago, I dropped my laptop because my hands were sweaty. Dropping the unit caused the hard drive to fail. I gave Paul a call and he said to bring it to his shop. He ordered a new, very good hard drive, which he got at a good discount. He knows I live on a fixed income, now that I am retired. He not only put the new hard drive in, but he did a clean install of my operating system, recovered my data (which I really needed, and reinstalled my basic programs and utilities. The laptop works better than itdid when I bought it. Paul's prices are very reasonable and his turn around time is fast. He will do the work on site, if possible or bring your broken unit to his shop and return it when finished. Paul is fully certified in every computer and networking service. I recommend him highly!
Mark Taylor is the Mr. fix it guy you dream about. He can figure anything out and get it working or up and running in record time. His knowledge of mechanics of all home repairs is amazing. He is on time and very amiable. I felt I could leave him alone in the house and his quality of work was impeccable. I would hire him to fix anything from a dishwasher to a carpentry job.
