Absolutely exceptional in every single way. Elin is without a doubt one of the most positive and supportive coaches. He listened closely to my goals and selected the perfect trainer for me. Trainer Alek is an amazing person who customized a program for me that is challenging, but not overwhelming. Working with Alek is very motivating and he pushes me to work harder to reach my goal in a very subtle way, so that a hard workout still is enjoyable and fun. Every week he emails me a workout summary and an overview of where I’m currently standing in my training. Elin is also tracking my progress and he reaches out every week to check up and see if everything is working out to my satisfaction. Elin and his team are professionals who truly enjoy helping people like me reach their goals. Customer satisfaction is highly regarded and they work with you to accommodate your schedule and budget. I have worked with different trainers and studios in the past, but Elin and his team are taking personal training to a whole new level.
Nick is an awesome trainer! I've been working with him for a month so far on a 3-month, 1x/week plan. He's very responsive to messages and is open to text communications which is super convenient. Don't let his age fool you - he has great experience, particularly from his personal MMA training and career. He has been excellent in modifying exercises to meet my needs / accommodate my limitations and keeping me motivated. I've never sweat so much in my life - really feel like I'm getting great value for my money!
I trained with Sensei Bennett through my four years of high school and during holidays after I left for college. The skills that I was taught not only applied to self defense but carried into other aspects of my life. The efficiency of motion learned during class helped me perform better in the sports that I was involved in at the time. The training we did also improved the overall health of my body. Aches and pains in my ankles and knees from previous basketball seasons vanished after only a couple months of training. My confidence, focus, and ability to stay relaxed in tense situations dramatically improved. Training with Sensei Bennett is an extremely rewarding experience and I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in self defense, martial arts, and overall self improvement.
I trained at Shaddock MMA for 6 months before moving away from the area and I can say that it was the best martial arts gym I have ever been a part of. All of the other students and instructors are extremely helpful and respectful to beginners and experienced martial artists. I was just getting into MMA and was surprised to be personally worked with and coached from my first day at the gym to my last. There is a strong team atmosphere at the gym which is hard to find in a sport which can be so ego-driven. I can say without a doubt that I grew significantly as a martial artist and greatly enjoyed my time at Shaddock MMA. I would recommend it to anyone.
In the short time that I have been training at Virginia Okinawan Karate, I've learned so much about kata and how every movement has a practical application. Sensei teaches in a fun, motivating way. The upper belts are always willing to stay around after class to help you. While my schedule is busy, every minute of training with Sensei and the class is invigorating and motivating. I've trained for more than 10 years in other styles and recently just came back to martial arts. I am so grateful to have found this place. I highly recommend training at Virginia Okinawan Karate. The class structure and curriculum is ideal for adult practitioners. You'll have fun and learn practical self defense skills.
Joshua is a phenomenal teacher and fighter of BJJ, Kickboxing and MMA. He tailors to your specific strengths and weaknesses, so that you get maximum value out of each class. He focuses on technique, fighting concepts, conditioning all the while ensuring you have fun during the process. Learning is everything here and he encourages self-filming or bringing in a partner to train with at no extra charge. The gym in a good shape, with all the necessary equipment and padding you would associate with MMA gyms. Joshua is constantly making improvements to the gym to keep it competitive and in good condition. He has many different types of classes and he is very flexible. It is no wonder why he has such a following, his knowledge and sincerity is rare in this industry.
I have been going to Mr. Tull since I was 5 years old and now that I am 30 years old I am glad that I can still learn martial arts from this wonderful teacher. I really enjoy his style of teaching martial arts and have learned a lot from him over the many years I have known him. I have been to other martial arts studios and no teacher has come close to Mr. Tull.

I've been training with Julien about two years now. It began as an at home training experience, and sometimes we would meet at the gym and do some weight training. Many times we worked out at a local park. I've enjoyed working out with Julien because of the sometimes unorthodox exercises that he would do. I lost a lot of weight working with him, and increased my 5k race pace. I enjoy that he draws inspiration from many disciplines such as yoga, meditation, martial arts, weight training, parkour, etc. I think if he had his own gym in a centrally located place it would be awesome. In his gym, he could have jungle-gym inspired equipment in addition to weight training equipment, so we could have a gym (indoors) that would support his style of training. As he grows, perhaps this is what will happen one day :)
Positive Impact Martial Arts is exactly that. An extremely positive and professional environment with experienced and encouraging instructors teaching modern and traditional martial arts. All instructors promote good health and a positive attitude at all times. I told them my desires from the class and received them. I was challenged to meet my goals and was given encouragement as I climbed the ladder. It’s awesome, they have classes for adults and kids! You may have the option to train with your child! This is definitely the place to train and there is always something new to learn in class or in one of the seminars.

Brown's karate provides excellent instruction in the martial arts. I am over fifty years old and haven't been in better shape since I was in college. I started a little over four years ago and plan to continue for a very long time. You won't find a program lead by a more committed person dedicated to providing affordable and quality classes.
I went to him to help my Jiu-Jitsu game and what I got was a whole lot more. He knows the science behind diet and exercise so well he was able to put me on an incredible diet and exercise regime which increased my strength, drop my weight from 186 lbs. down to 161 lbs. and as a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu his instruction took me to two first place finishes in tournaments. I recommend Chris as the only professional athlete, nutrition specialist and expert trainer with a B.S. degree in Sports & Exercise Science from a major university in the Frederick, Maryland area. The opportunity to be trained by a champion and athlete like Chris is rare in Frederick, MD so I would highly recommend him for personal fitness training, diet overhauls, and private instruction in his professional disciplines of wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I have extensive experience teaching students from various socioeconomic backgrounds, and always try to teach "up" to a student rather than teaching "down" to them. I started martial arts as a chubby little 7 year old, so I know what it feels like to be awkward and self-conscious.
I have worked private security for a while now. Both armed and unarmed. The physical training I received was mainly bits and pieces of God knows what. So I seeked professional trying from J... And WOW.. The confidence I have now has gone through the roof. I feel I'm much better suited for my job and don't have to depend on my tool belt as much as I've needed to in the past. Extremely professional and the man is lightning fast and has an unmatched amount of strength. I admittedly stalked his social media page a bit and saw him training in Thailand. Absolutely amazing videos. Grade A!

This style was founded by Ken Duncan. Pyung Sah Nimm Duncan has received recognition throughout the world of his skills and martial art abilities. He was one of the first Americans to be taught Kuk-Sool-Won and the person responsible for bringing Kuk Sool Won to the United States along with Grand Master In-Hyuk-Su. Pyung Sah-Nimm Ken Duncan has been featured in many Martial Art magazines and has appeared in movies and instructional videos. In the early 90's, PSN: Ken Duncan and KJN: Terry Lee Ryan (MA-Resume) collaborated , defining and carrying on the Open Palm System (PYUNG SOO DO) martial art style. Kwan Ja Nimm Terry Lee Ryan has studied martial arts since 1981. He holds black belts in Kuk-Sool-Won, Tae-Kwon-Do, Open Palm System, and Hap-Ki-Do he has also studied Judo, Pressure Point Fighting, Shoalin Kung-Fu, Chi Kung and Tai-Chi. KJN:Terry Lee now instructs the Open Palm System Martial Arts. Instructors under the school include Kyo-Sah-Nimm-Nimm Jeff Henderson, who attained his Black Belt in OPS in 1997. Sah-Ba-Nimm Leon Molinario, who also holds a Black Belt in HapKiDo and Cho-Kyo Nimm Ryan Rodriques, who also holds a Black Belt in Kuk-Sool-Won. The Open Palm System school has been moving in a positive direction for many years now and of course would not be where its at without the continual support of all the students and parents.
I would highly recommend Baltimore Martial Arts Academy for many reasons and from a couple different view points. As a student - Gary Berger and his staff are experts instructors not only in martial arts but fitness of both mind and body. I have been in the military for 21 years, have lived all over the world and have never seen a gym with so many different courses of instruction. Such a wide array and blending of talent is hard to find and almost impossible in a single school. Patient and professional - I have found these instructors to look at the individual and tailor classes to student needs and goals. The plethora of instructors is simply amazing. I have 3 Aikido instructors my son has 5 different jujitsu instructors and my daughter has 2 different kickboxing instructors - getting all of there collective strengths and experiences - class never gets boring or routine. As a father - I have two teenagers attending Baltimore Martial Arts Academy and can not imagine a better environment for an extracurricular activity. My Son has attained his black belt in mixed martial arts and is working on belts in both judo and straight jujitsu. He is on the competition team and has competed nationally in numerous grappling and judo competitions - qualifying this year for the judo junior nationals this summer. It has been a great outlet for teenage aggression for both kids and has shown them a positive way to harness energy that would be otherwise wasted. His skills will serve him well in high school as he plays football and wrestles. My Daughter is working on a belt in mixed martial arts and taking kickboxing classes. Not the competitor her brother is I have found the discipline and fitness she is learning will carry on through her entire life. As a father it is good to know that my daughter can defend herself and walks with a confidence that she may otherwise have not found. My children are the most important thing in my life and my greatest legacy - I feel blessed to have found this gym with such a large group of both male and female role models to help me raise my children and instill the values we all find so lacking in the world today. It is refreshing to find a place where integrity, honor, respect and discipline are not only preached but taught, practiced and expected. All in all I was lucky or destined to find Baltimore Martial Arts Academy. I have found a family that cares about me and my families well being. I hope all of you are as lucky. Justin D. Pyle
