Timothy helped me with my move from Baltimore to a studio apartment Washington, DC. The main pieces were a few large IKEA furniture and many boxes of personal items. It took a few hours from start to finish. Although he was on vacation at the time, Timothy arranged for my move from Trinidad. He was quick to adapt to challenges presented by my furniture and the narrow corridors and stairwells they had to go down. I was very satisfied with my move and even had time to go hang around my new neighbourhood before starting to unpack. Timothy was personable and friendly. He is the type that rolls up his own sleeves before asking his team to chip in. It was great getting to know him and he has the best recommendations for Ethiopian! All in all, I was very satisfied. Aside from a few dents in the wall from very challenging furniture and some miscommunication, everything ended up just right. Thanks!
I'm not sure my review came through so I will post again. I was very satisfied with John Mark Power. What he promised came through in time and workmanship. I had a dining room table and chairs refinished and repairs. My furniture looks like brand new. My set was purchased in 1977. I was unsure if to get rid of it or have it refinished and parts fixed that had come loose. I am so glad I decided to have the work done instead. I was very impressed with the time frame I was given and it was met. His workmanship was above all others. I would highly recommend John Mark Power for restoration services. I am one very happy client.
Steve Goldman is a 'Furniture Whisperer"! I had several chairs (self assembled, she said jokingly) that needed to be re-assembled and a futon with a broken hinge. Steve came to my home at the appointed time, conducted a thorough inspection of the work to be done, gave me options on how to approach the repairs as well as payment methods. Within 24 hours, my furniture was back in my home -- in better than new condition. He kept his work area clean, was courteous/kind/professional. I could not ask for a better experience!
Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.
We hired Brad and Lisa to find out if we could repair a leaking refrigerator or if we needed to buy a new one. They fixed that and then helped us replace a leaking toilet, too. They were prompt, honest, and reasonably priced. I think we will be saving hundreds of dollars on our water bill this year due to them. Highly recommended!
I have hired mr. Gennaro to work at my house with different projects including gardening.painting, garage cleaning, deck repair and pressure washing etc.. He is very dedicated to his work punctual flexible and organized his prices are very competitive very reliable and to every problem I've had in the past I called him to help me fix all kind of little fixes around the house I had recommended him to my frieds as well.
My assumption is the average person doesn't know much about drywall repair. I say this because when you are quoted a price of a repair you will feel one way or the other about the quote. I would say that for what was paid I feel like I was "stealing" from Romberto based on the quality of work these guys completed. First of all the guys stated they would be on location at 7:30. They were here at 7:32. Based on where I live I will take that 10 times out of 10. Much better than a cable providers or appliance delivery that give you 2 - 4 hour windows and still show up late. They had their drop clothes and coverings to cover the furniture in the room. and they taped up all the surrounding areas to keep it clear and clean. The area of the repair was approximately 3' x 4' and than a separate fist sized hole. Entirely different types of repairs but these guys knocked it out with no problem. I will be hiring these guys again for any future jobs that I have. Thanks Romberto!!
Mr. Perry did an amazing job on a door repair and door frame repair. His work quality is excellent and he is very communicative throughout the process. I was so pleased with Mr. Perry's work that I requested further work be done on an exterior wall. Again, his work was excellent. He does everything and is a long time expert in his field. Mr. Perry is definitely my go-to from now on!!
I hired Gary and Dale to power wash my basement that was very stained and bad off, and to also landscape and take are of my yard. They did a great job!!! The basement concrete floor was thoroughly cleaned, and the yard looks great! They also hauled away old furniture and trash that I needed gone!! I would recommend them and their prices were reasonable! I will be calling again. Thanks Gary and Dale! Kathy
I brought Craig three pieces of antique furniture to repair: my great-grandmother's Eastlake chair and side table, and an expanding table. I wish I had before pictures - all three pieces were badly scratched up. The expanding table had been previously repaired incorrectly, and had a wobbly leg. Craig restored each piece to its former beauty. I hope they will be pieces I can share with my grandchildren. Craig communicated clearly my options at each step - he gave his recommendation but was not pushy. He was committed to my project and took painstaking care to finish the details of these pieces in the correct way. Craig also helped me to coordinate an upholsterer for the chair. An overall excellent job by Craig. Four months later I am still fully satisfied. Thaddeus
I contracted Unlimited Resources, Inc. for a designer paint job and the installation of exotic hardwood floors throughout my living room and family room and ceramic flooring in the kitchen. I was hesitant about the paint combination because I was stepping outside of my box but Mr. Litman advised me through the purchases and I was thoroughly pleased with the end result. I picked out a very expensive exotic wood which would have to be ordered and would take weeks to arrive and I was working within a tight timeline to have the work completed. Mr. Litman was able to locate the wood in the metropolitan area and completed the project in an expeditious manner. My neighbors and family have asked to see the finished work and I've received rave reviews! I wouldn't hesitate to use Unlimited Resources, Inc. for future home improvement endeavors.
Did a great good and went out of his way when the ikea parts didn't fit saved me a trip back to the store. And went out of his way and helped me with my paintings on the wall!
Carlos repaired a damaged dining room table and revived a dresser (that had also sustained damage in a move). Both pieces look fantastic, and he was able to do the repairs in my home, which was great since I had no way to move large furniture. He promptly provided a written estimate via email and called and arrived exactly on time as promised. Overall a great experience, thank you!
Sam first traveled to my home to review my work request and give me an estimate. I hired Sam to install a chandelier in my dining room, shelves in the laundry room, peg board in my garage, 2 ceiling lights in a walk in closet, window blinds, caulk 2 bath tubs, curtain rods, grab bar in bath tub and repair a ceiling fan. Sam was punctual, took care to protect areas he was working in and completed all work in a timely and professional manner. Sam takes pride in his work and it shows in the end results. The cost was very reasonable and I highly recommend Sam and will hire him for projects in the future.
Justin responded quickly to my initial request and to messages I exchanged with him. He was flexible with scheduling, followed up with me on the morning of the appointment, and arrived at the agreed upon time. Most importantly, he did a great job assembling my son's dresser and did so faster than I expected. Justin also took time to answer questions I had that were unrelated to the dresser assembly, which I really appreciated. I will be using his services again and recommend him to others who have similar projects.
Because our experience , dedication and pride that we put into anything we do for our customers.
Over the course of 2 days, Ted and one assistant helped us with lots of projects around our house, including re-attachment of a tile in our bathroom, installation of a new bathroom fan, re-caulking/grouting in our shower, re-attachment of a mantle to the wall, insertion of foam insulation/caulking to repair our chimney, re-attachment of tiles on our front walkway, dishwasher repair, and more. Ted was very punctual, professional, and easy to talk to and work with. He seems to be very knowledgeable about home repairs and it was really helpful to have him around right when we moved into our new home. We asked for a lot of help and Ted delivered - he got everything done (between him and one other person). Overall, we're glad we hired Ted and plan to use him again in the future!
We do a variety of work from restoring antiques to refinishing modern pieces. Other work that we do is regluing of furniture, rush seats, cane seats, upholstery, and wood repairs of all kinds. Being in the refinishing business for 22 years, I have seen and worked on a wide variety of pieces, and try to keep the customer as in the loop as possible when picking out a stain color and finish, so there are no surprises and the customer is pleased when we return the piece. We offer free in-home estimates, and free pick up and delivery within a 10-mile radius from our shop. Located in the Merrifield area, we are just a mile off the beltway, and are easy to find.
Because I am a people person and I give. You what you want not what it shouldn't be at a good price. And your next project you will come back to me with a smile.
Job was to strip paint from three wooden doors. There were multiple coats of paint, and it ended up taking longer than estimated, but the doors look great, and we are very pleased.
