I had an excellent experience with Principal Termite & Pest Management. They provided prompt service, Bill didn't do any pressure sales or push annual agreements. He was sensitive to our needs and didn't over spray the house with chemicals. I'd recommend them without any reservations.
I took over the lease for a business and was surprised by the unique constant service provided by the rep on the phone; attic area was inspected/*cleaned * and installed new insulation per the code of the building. BEST SERVICE IN TOWN.
Came a bit earlier so I was "late" to the meeting point. Price went up from $129 to $199. This was for a dryer vent, cleaning. Replacement was quoted at $350. First I turned down the quotes, but came back and offered to clean for $150. I was there, and it needed doing, so OK, I agreed, though I almost said no. Job was good and took one hour. Had the equipment and accepted a personal check.
I hired Antonio, of Renaissance Restoration, to do several projects. They included: 1) rebuilding the curb in my shower that was installed improperly by a different contractor; 2) Finishing a half-bath remodel that included refinishing and painting the drywall after they had be damaged from wallpaper removal, installing a vanity including plumbing and trim; 3) Repairing water-damaged hardwood floors and refinishing hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining room, bathroom, hall and stairway; 4) Expanding the kitchen entrance by 2 inches, repairing and refinishing the drywall and wood floor. I was at first skeptical to hire one person to complete all these tasks due to the variety of skills required. Fortunately, Antonio had all the skills necessary to complete the job expertly and timely. His attention to detail and vast experience with carpentry and contracting work in general proved to be invaluable. The end result of each project was even better than I had expected. Needless to say I would hire Antonio again for my next project.
We are so happy to have found Marvin and his crew at Baiza Construction! It's been a year since Marvin completed the project of turning our fixer-upper into a beautiful home and we couldn't be happier. The renovations were extensive: they knocked down a wall and installed a modern kitchen, moved the location of a bathroom and gave us an amazing walk-in shower, sanded and stained hard-wood floors, painted, gave the house a new roof and all new windows, while insulating everything well so we will save money on heating and A/C in the future! They did a lot more, but too much to list. We keep going back to Marvin to do additional projects as needed. Marvin has been very good to us, he does great work at very fair prices. He's also a really nice guy who really wants to make sure we are happy with the results. The only problem? He's so sought after, it may be hard for him to find the time to respond. I think a lot of bad reviews are due to him just being so busy. My suggestion to him is to hire an administrative assistant to help with all the project scheduling, invoices, and other boring office stuff that I think he doesn't like to do. Also, maybe find a way to clone himself ;)
Comfenergy did a very thorough consultation and showed us many areas we could improve. We elected to do our attic insulation, have a bathroom vent redirected, and update the insulation in our unfinished basement through them. They got the job done very quickly.
I hired Jeff to install a medicine cabinet. After I spent hours trying to install it and found out from the manufacturer that it had sent me the incorrect installation instructions, I decided to save my time and get a professional to install it. Jeff came in with a realistic bid and he confirmed it with a site visit. He was able to get to my small job within a week. He discussed both surface mounting and recess mounting the cabinet based upon his experience. Once he removed the dry wall, he was able to confirm he could recess mount the medicine cabinet which would look more aesthetically pleasing. I was very satisfied with the installation and he left the dry wall ready for painting; minimal dry wall dust entered the master bedroom. I would not hesitate to hire Colwill Design for future projects!
We put an addition on our home several years ago and it has been cold ever since. When we looked underneath, we found that the insulation was quite thin and poorly attached. I went on Thumbtack and looked for someone to apply spray insulation. The MP team got back quickly, offered a good price and was able to schedule to come by a few days later. When they came, they were very efficient. When they were done, they discussed what they had done, cleaned up thoroughly, and left the house looking just as they found it. I'd strongly recommend them!
We recently had a mold issue at our residence, and being new home owners with a young child we were very concerned. We found Eugene through thumbtack and explained what our problem was. He was very professional and proposed what he thought would be a solution to the problem, not just a bandaid. On his advice we signed up for an energy audit. We went forward with Eugene from the information received on the energy audit and his initial thoughts. Not only did Eugene fix the problem but he also helped make our home much more energy efficient in the process. A few of the major things he facilitated was to fix insulation issues in our basement / attic, provide solutions and contractors to fix our HVAC system (Which had a 50% loss on the way upstairs), and to install an ERV system to provide fresh oxygen not only at the source, but through the entire house. Our HVAC is now running much better and our indoor air quality is superb. Eugene has helped provide a safe environment for my family to live and grow in. I would definitely recommend his expertise in building science to anyone. Eugene will help find the source of the issue and start there, rather than a quick patch job that will need to be redone in the future.
Needed dry wall and insulation installed due to water damage. After they were done, it was like the damage was never there. They did exactly what I requested. Very professional and courteous. Highly recommend!
Over the course of 2 days, Ted and one assistant helped us with lots of projects around our house, including re-attachment of a tile in our bathroom, installation of a new bathroom fan, re-caulking/grouting in our shower, re-attachment of a mantle to the wall, insertion of foam insulation/caulking to repair our chimney, re-attachment of tiles on our front walkway, dishwasher repair, and more. Ted was very punctual, professional, and easy to talk to and work with. He seems to be very knowledgeable about home repairs and it was really helpful to have him around right when we moved into our new home. We asked for a lot of help and Ted delivered - he got everything done (between him and one other person). Overall, we're glad we hired Ted and plan to use him again in the future!
I hired Emington and his team to remove the popcorn texture from the ceiling and add LED lighting to brighten up my condo. They did an excellent job in a well priced, timely manner. The bonus was just how friendly and easy it was to work with Emington. He really listened to my ideas and provided great input to help make them come true without breaking the bank. My condo looks soooooo good now just from the ceiling upgrade. I am so happy with the outcome and cannot wait to start more projects. I would definitely recommend Emington and his team!
Larry did a terrific job installing our Rheem tankless water heater. The Rheems are really tricky machines, and proper installation (according to all the manufacturer's specs) is essential for proper operation of the unit. Larry gave a reasonable estimate for the job, and was extremely clean and careful with our somewhat complex installation. He improved many many details of our original set up, and simply did a fantastic job! Larry is truly a master plumber, and gives much thought and preparation to his work. He is also a master gas fitter, and drastically improved the gas line to the Rheem tankless with no extra charge. I can not recommend Larry more highly. We were incredibly lucky to find him! Thanks, Thumbtack, for helping us locate such a talented plumber and contractor!

Spray foam insulation is environmentally-safe, non-toxic and can completely air-seal residential and commercial buildings such as homes, schools, offices and more. Combined with a proper air management system, these products are the answer to improved indoor air quality, energy efficiency and sound abatement. By sealing out dust, allergens, odors and pollutants, these products allow the air management system to be designed so that the indoor air quality is healthier than the outside air. The air-seal results in increased energy efficiency (as much as 50%), which translates into short- and long-term savings such as the use of a properly sized HVAC unit; elimination of building wrap, less use of natural resources and lower utility bills. Noise pollution is reduced because airborne noise can no longer seep through walls. Areas where the difference will quickly be appreciated include offices, classrooms, master bedrooms, laundry rooms, media rooms and plumbing runs.
I don't write many reviews, but I wanted to go out of my way to make sure to to write a detailed one for Yosif and Smart House Remodeling. I think I am uniquely qualified to give a very thorough review, as I hired Yosif and his team to do a basement renovation covering over 1,400 square feet. This was a big job, and below you can see some of the before and after photos from a few of the rooms. I'm a pretty particular client; I'm an engineer and pay attention to the details and quality of work that I get done and was very pleased with the outcome on this. I hired Yosif after getting approximately 8 (!) different bids for this job. So that shows you what he was up against. I think the typical experience with working with Yosif is likely as follows: you have him out for an estimate, he has some good ideas about the work that you may have not considered, he gives you a prompt estimate with very reasonable prices, and then you hire him to start the job. Once work is well underway, you realize you've got something really great going and then start creating new contracts to do all kinds of additional work with him--work that perhaps you've put off because you dreaded having to go through finding a quality contractor for each additional project. In my case, I started off with vinyl plank flooring over 1400 sq. feet (spot-leveling & demo needed), with some switch relocation and other electrical work (outlet additions, ceiling box), recessed lighting installation, and HVAC vent installations. By the end I had added significant drywall patching (including closing holes in attic), replacing a huge wood paneled room with all-new drywall, installed an attic ladder, replaced a rear door (including new framing & storm door install), repaired a front door, had a custom divider wall built to hide an HVAC unit, had soundproofing insulation put in, multiple in-wall access panels, minor plumbing, and I could honestly go on. I got an amazing amount done beyond what I originally though was possible for my budget. Yosif is careful to make sure that you are OK with the finished product on each phase of the work that is being done, and is willing to redo things that are not quite right. Each job is properly finished too, with the small things like priming on drywall (plenty skip this!), clean up, and material disposal. I found him very trustworthy as well and had no issue with him doing work at my home regardless of whether I was there or not, yet he was also respectful of my schedule. I would also consider him skilled at a very broad range of construction areas/topics, which if you've hired a number of contractors before you probably know that is not always the case. Although I do want to note that I found his drywall work especially good. I don't think many people would assume that he has 10+ years of experience, but it shows in what he is capable of an his approach to solving the problems that you encounter (and you will always find something interesting when you start opening up walls!). In short, I would gladly recommend him without any reservations.
This was for an under sink reverse osmosis water filtration system and the installation of a new faucet for the water filter. I had a few contractors come over to give me an estimate, and some of them were even hinting that they didnt want to complete this project because there were other solutions within the market with easier installations etc. I ended up hiring James, because not only did he have experience with the work, but he also showed confidence in the product and being able to install it without issue. Overall, James did a fantastic job and his work was extremely clean, and he finished the job much faster than others told me it would take. I appreciated his hard work and precision.

Affordable Virginia Spray Foam uses cutting-edge insulation technology to create a powerful, air-tight barrier between your interior environment and outside temperatures, noise, rodents, and pollutants.
They did a great job insulating my attic. I have been saving on my energy bills ever since the job was done.
We hired Mike to repair some drywall after a pipe burst last month. He was able to come over and give us an estimate on the weekend and was flexible working with our schedule to complete the repair. Mike also willingly answered several questions we had regarding our insurance claim. The repaired wall looks great and we appreciated Mikes professionalism and responsiveness throughout the process. We would definitely hire Mike again!
