FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started by handling small repairs when I began working for a storage facility in New York City. Tenants frequently complained because repair requests took a long time to be processed. Seeing this, I decided to take initiative and fix whatever I could myself.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I had a customer who bought her home a few years ago, and the washer and dryer were included with the purchase. Recently, the washer failed, so she used her home warranty to get it replaced. However, the warranty company was unable to install the new washer because it would not fit through the basement access. After I had already installed a range for her, she contacted me to handle the washer installation. Once on site, I explained that the wall and door section had not been in place when the original washer was brought into the basement. I carefully and methodically removed a section of the wall and the door, installed the washer, and then reattached everything exactly as it was—without needing any additional materials.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would recommend taking the time to read reviews and not simply settling for the lowest price, as that can often end up costing more in the long run. If you request a quote and the response doesn’t work for you, don’t just stop texting—have a conversation with the professional. Talking things through can often lead to a better solution and a more accurate quote.
