FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I sort of fell into it. I have always been very artistic and crafty, but when planning my own wedding in 2002, I was getting frustrated at the lack of options for wedding stationery. I began drawing out my own design and fell in love with the process. Shortly after sending out my custom invitations made by yours truly, I decided to pursue a career as a graphic artist. With lots of hard work, sketching, art school and ten years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that it was a match made in heaven!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you are taking a look at the designer's portfolio and that their style of work meshes well with the style you like/are looking for. Every artist has their own unique talent. Although they may be very gifted, it may not be the particular "look" you are going for.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
It takes a lot of time, talent and experience to understand the stationery world. I have worked 10 years in this industry and there are a lot of people out there calling themselves designers, when they just paste clip-art together and call it art. I just ask that you please do your research when hiring a designer.
