- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently restored an old marble fireplace hearth. the owner said it was likely 80 years old. The whole surface of the stone was etched and scratched, and the edge perimeter was completely chipped. I began by using a hydrogen peroxide cleaner on the edges to remove over half a century of dirt buildup. After that, I began the long process of restoring the chipped edge, by taking small pieces of marble ground into coarse dust and mixing it with a reason to create a material that looked identical to the original marble. After each chip was filled I carved the edge so that it was flat and smooth. Finally, I restored the surface by removing all scratches and acid etching. 8 hours later when the job was finished the hearth was bright and shining and the half century old stone looked like new again
