Deck or Porch Remodel or Addition
Brett did an exceptional job on rebuilding my old deck and screening it in. He paid attention to detail and took his time doing the job right. I am delighted with how the deck looks now.Jul 23, 2016Verified
Deck or Porch Remodel or Addition
First off I am satisfied with the final result of my covered deck built by Riverside, but it took some effort on my part to get there. First they thought the build would take 3 weeks, about 7 weeks later they were finished. The maximum work day was 6 hours, which I feel should have been shared prior to me accepting them to build my deck. When installing the railing the hardware was splitting the composite boards. I had to tell them to use a larger bit for the pilot holes, not my job. Location of the concrete pillars were a shot in the dark, one of the corner posts was partially off of it. The other pillar was full of porosity. After the roof was built the roofer waited 5 days before shingling and of course it rained and leaked into my house. I could go on but it’s all the same, I cannot recommend them for a job like this. I considered not doing a review because I could not recommend them but then considered some of their future customers and felt it my duty to share my experiences with them. I have attached some photos of the issues I encountered.Nov 27, 2016VerifiedRiverside Construction's reply
Unfortunately, Central Inspection moved the week we started this project and our framing inspection was delayed during their move. The customer was compensated for the rain damage. I too could go on, but I stand behind my work and 40 years of experience.
We hired Riverside Construction to do a bathroom remodel job. The estimate we were given was very close to the actual cost, and the timeline was close as well. They were very respectful of our home, and cleaned up the area before they left. Brett and Rich were so very helpful when it came time for me to make decisions on color, material, etc. I was kept informed of all delays, and changes. I was encouraged to call with any questions or concerns, even after they were finished. The electric company they used (Young Electric) was very nice, and professional. The finished product is so very nice, and I am very pleased with their work. I will use them on future projects.Jun 12, 2016Verified
I am a very satisfied customer. Brett Hudson and his small but mighty crew worked nearly every day, except Sundays (even worked the Fourth of July) to build a beautiful deck. I have told him he could use us as a reference and/or bring by customers for a look at his masterpiece.Mar 18, 2011
Shower and Bathtub Installation or Replacement
It was a tub to shower plus painting. Didn't put mortar under base and at end of project I stepped in it. It creaked and moved under my feet. Fixed that then claimed I said I was going to use shower curtains...never came up in our discussion. Delayed a week to get doors and they were installed out of alignment. It looks pretty but I had to hire someone to fix it. Also marked up door cost 25%, which I thought was a bit excessive. Paint & chalking jobs were mediocre. Accessories were installed nicely. Glad to get this dud out of my house.Nov 1, 2018VerifiedRiverside Construction's reply
A shower base only requires a mortar bed if it is not level....this one was perfectly level. I fixed the subfloor and the problem went away. I have remedied the employee problem, these things happen. The last guy I worked with lasted 7 years until dying of a heart attack. Doors were not mentioned on the contract and she assumed they were. I usually use glass companies for glass work, but she backed me into a corner. BTW it's a beautiful shower. She's a piece of work!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I generall bid by the job, not by the hour. My bids have a detailed materials list, not just a single price for everything. This way the customer can see where their money is going.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Introduce myself and offer references and testimonials. Take a look at the project, and develop a detailed bid. Set up a time to meet again with the details.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have taken the lead renovation training required by law by the EPA. This is generally for homes built before 1978. This means I am certified and licensed by the state of Kansas and know how to prevent lead dust from contaminating you and your home.
