Anthony didn’t just do the job—he made sure everything was done perfectly. He even took the time to explain what he was fixing and how to maintain it. Definitely hiring him again!

I’ve hired Master Handyman for several home repairs, and they’ve never disappointed. They show up on time, get the job done efficiently, and the quality of work is top-notch.

Hired on Thumbtack
I felt like the owner of this company is quite pleasant and professional to begin with. I am exceptionally unsatisfied with how the transaction occurred and for the sake of defamation of character, I won’t explain how the transaction happened play by play. I will say the work was decent at best, but I basically got what I paid for. There are definitely some spots missing paint and unfinished work but nothing I would demand refund for. Nothing more nothing less (at-least that’s what I thought). I was quoted one price, agreed, but the project kept getting extended and not much work was being done. It literally was only to paint my ceilings and a little over 1800 sq/fr. I was left with a bill for what should have reasonably been within the scope of the job. I never agreed to pay the additional amount nor was I told before the owner left that I owed more money. The owner WILL NOT STOP CONTACTING ME!! I have asked Thumbtack to investigate the concern and they agreed that the final on invoice amount was not communicated and agreed on. I told the owner to either handle in court or through Thumbtack as that’s where I booked. Thumbtack also asked him to no longer contact me but I keep getting PayPal requests. I don’t like leaving reviews like this and did not want to do this but I don’t know how to get this resolved. I really thought he was a sweet and professional young man but this is extremely unprofessional and it makes me not want to contract any more work out. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else in the future and hate that I even went with this team.
Details: Home • 7 rooms • Ceiling • 8 - 10 feet (standard ceiling) • Repainting, with same color • Excellent - clean and smooth • Homeowner or property manager • No, this is not new construction • No, I will move things out of the way myself
Master Handyman's reply
Niesha, thank you for your feedback. While I appreciate your initial kind words, I must clarify and correct several misleading and inaccurate claims in your review for the sake of transparency and integrity.
First, the service agreement you signed clearly stated that the estimate was based on clean, obstruction-free conditions and that any unforeseen issues may result in additional charges. During the project, numerous unexpected conditions required additional prep and labor, which were communicated to you in real time—including unremoved furniture, highly textured ceilings, and extensive manual masking due to drywall inconsistencies.
The additional invoice you reference is a result of this documented, necessary extra work—not an arbitrary charge. The total balance due and the scope changes were explained in detail, and you were given multiple opportunities to address it directly and professionally.
Regarding Thumbtack: while you did initially find my services through their platform, Thumbtack is not a party to the contract between us. Once a signed service agreement is in place between a client and a contractor, the legal and financial obligations are between those two parties, regardless of where the connection originated.
As a service provider, I have every legal right to follow up on a balance due—especially when it’s tied to signed documentation and completed work. Professional communication regarding payment should not be misconstrued as harassment. I have reached out respectfully, documented all correspondence, and have only taken appropriate steps to resolve this amicably.
I remain open to resolving this matter civilly and through the proper channels, but I stand by the quality of work delivered and the fairness of the final invoice. I’m confident that any objective third party will come to the same conclusion.
