Ismail came to out home and laid 16x16 ceramic tile throughout the laundry room, hallway, bathroom, kitchen, and dining room. We are completely blown away by how it looks! His work is amazing! He is polite, hard working, and trustworthy. We are already planning on having him back to lay hard wood flooring in several rooms of our home. I know he will always go above and beyond to deliver exceptional work!

I'm hesitant to provide the review I want to share, because once Colorado Springs hears about Mike, he's going to get real popular and I won't have my most excellent contractor available 24/7! :) We experienced a leak from what we believed to be the upstairs bathroom, as we had it remodeled last year and noticed that we were getting water intermittently in the basement. I created my Thumbtack request, and Mike responded immediately and came out on SUNDAY. It didn't take him but 5 minutes to evaluate the situation and find the cause. Whoever had installed metal shelving in that part of the basement, punctured the drain coming from the upstairs bathroom. Mike immediately went to Lowes, picked up what he needed to resolve the situation, installed and tested. Perfect. After that little water debacle, I engaged Mike for further assistance with help under the kitchen sink which he resolved immediately, and then given his experience with carpentry and installation, I've hired him to not only replace my front storm door, but to refurbish/recreate my back deck. Trust me. Don't hire Mike unless you want your situation resolved in short order with courtesy, respect and integrity. In short, this guy is going to be real busy. THANK YOU MIKE!!! -Kyle

Very personable and works to please. Jim did a good job painting my master suite and kitchen ceiling. When he got behind the schedule due to weather and carpet being delivered, he changed his schedule to accommodate. I will call him again for an estimate for my next project.

Eric showed up on time and replaced the flooring in our bathroom. He had to remove and replace the toilet in order to lay the vinyl. The following morning (Sunday) there was a little water around the base of the toilet. We contacted Eric and he came right out and replaced the inlet pipe. That afternoon we noticed water again and Eric came out again and replaced the wax ring with a double wax ring and new hold-down nut. Now all looks good and we are very pleased with his work and his responsiveness to the problem. In spite of these issues, we would definitely hire him again and I have recommended him to a friend who needs a little handy-work around her house. He was easy to work with and very courteous and friendly.

Steven did a beautiful job patching some drywall holes that were made by a plumber when rerouting pipes in my house. He built two soffits to hide the PEX tubing in the kitchen. You would never know those soffits were not part of the original kitchen design. Steven was very polite, professional, and timely, in both starting and completing the work. I will use him for other projects, definitely. I would recommend him to anyone. Great job!

I hired Mike and his crew to remodel my bathroom and kitchen. The guys were very professional and got the job done weeks before deadline. (The job was a very large one). The prices I was quoted were very fair. Mike took his time to find ways to save me money and he went out of his way to do so. My bathroom looks like it would be found in a high end house. My kitchen received brand new countertops and my cabinets were refurbished and look better than they did 20+ years ago. Another thing that I would like to point out was that while this was all completed I was on a charity mission in Porta Rico where the earthquakes took place. I was able to trust him at my residents alone with no supervision. If I could give 6 stars I would. Very professional, very fast, and cheap. Work of a top of the line professional at the prices of your cousins friend. A+++++

I needed my ceiling fixed along one whole wall. A window in the bathroom scrapped caulked and painted and a sink and faucet replaced and a non-working light fixture replaced. Trevor with 360 Home Solutions was wonderful. Not only did he advice me on what supplies I needed, He was very accommodating when he realized that I had bought the wrong sink that would totally revamp the plumbing underneath the kitchen counter. Though the above mentioned are things that are expected from a professional, what separates 360 Home Solutions from the rest is that they were very honest and professional with me even at times when I lost my cool. While they are not the cheapest professionals at thumbtack they still saved me money by fixing my existing light fixture free of charge and by keeping me from doing a lot of unnecessary expensive plumbing. They also went the extra mile to purchase the supplies and pick them up at no extra charge! Rita Alanoner

This talented lady has painted for me several times, with outstanding results. How she can paint without dropcloths or masking tape with nary a drop of unwanted paint is really amazing to me. She knows the art of faux surfaces and designs clever wall murals. She knows color, having introduced several new colors into my home with beautiful results. She is my go-to for all interior painting and wall art.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

  • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
  • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
  • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

  • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
  • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
  • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
  • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.
