Kat was awesome in taking care of our dog on short notice. She stopped by twice a day for feeding & walks, and she provided updates (with pictures) on every visit. Would recommend Kat to anyone looking for a pet sitter.

Dawn is awesome. She's flexible, reliable and extremely easy to deal with. And most importantly, she's truly a pet lover. I know my cat is well cared for and loved as much when I'm gone as when I'm home. I highly recommend Dawn. (I'm sure my cat does too!)

About

I have experience in animal care, pet sitting, dog walking, dog training, horseback riding, horse training, etc. I have worked with animals for my whole life, I have worked at PETSMART, I currently volunteer at a horseback riding stable and foster dogs for an animal rescue. I am graduating college this spring (2014) with two degrees. I typically travel to the owner's home to care for the animals, and I have extended experience with dogs, cats, horses, birds, hamsters, fish, and reptiles. I would be willing to take care of any and all pets.

About

My name is Nikki Lindon and I am 29 years old. I have been a Vet Technician for around 10 years now. I am great with all animals and am very knowledgeable about all animals, and emergency situations. I worked with a local vet, and was responsible for all animals boarding at our clinic. I do all kinds of vet work, as well as monitor all sick animals. I did assessments when animals first come in and take vitals. I also performed pre-surgery, surgery itself, and post-op. My Dr., unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer and had no choice but to close his practice. I love the freedom of my own clients and the freedom of my days pleasing others and doing what I was born to do. I have a wonderful client base already and there is no need to go back to corporate America. Because they stress from being away from home, I will make myself available to come to your home exercise, play with, feed, water, and make sure your animals are happy and well. I will also do anything else you might need me to do while you are away. I am responsible, respectable to both your loved ones and you, the client, as well and honest. I will do what it takes to make sure our four legged friends are as comfortable as they are when you home. I can give any medications with the most comfort as possible and I am very reasonable with my rates. I am open to discussion, pictures, and fun things. I can absolutely guarantee that my rates are the lowest around. I not only do this for extra money, but I truly enjoy animals and keeping clients, as well as your pets as comfortable and happy while you are gone away. I am also willing and more comfortable boarding cats and small dogs in my own home since I have a year-old male, not neutered, 2 year old female/spayed cat as well as a Teacup Chihuahua of my own. They are very well with all dogs and cats - very well socialized. I feed them organic food and provide lots of toys and entertainment. I can board for a little as a couple days to months at a time. I have several clients that have boarded their cats/dogs here at my home for months at a time. At this time, I am boarding 2 happy cats, and one dog, that will be going home as soon as his father gets back from Italy. Not only do I board and come to my clients homes, I have a very flexible schedule and am able to accommodate all demands and requests. I also train dogs as well, and I have references for that. They have their own litter box in their own bedroom, my spare, with food, water and toys. I also have 4 more litter boxes that I clean out everyday for their comfort, as well as mine. They also have the run of my home once they get acquainted with my own kitten and cat and the other friendly kitty's. I have a back yard and a front yard as well and take dogs for walks in my quiet neighborhood. All cats/dogs here are up to date on shots and if the are not, I will give them what they need - flea, annuals, ear problems, you name it! My fiance also helps me brush and play with our friends every night. I accommodate all special diets and can keep a log for each animal. Dog, kitty or other more exotic species. I have many toys, a cat tree and you can check out pics at Facebook - Nicole Lindon Winchester KY. If you contact me on FB, please specify that you are a potential client looking at my profile and such. I am even able to transport your friends anywhere you need them to go. No place is too far. I can also come to your home anywhere in the surrounding counties throughout the day and cook, clean, play with your animals, clean up after them, etc. I can do it all and pride myself in making not just my four-legged clients happy, but also my two legged friends as equally happy.

About

I am a college student, looking for part-time work in walking dogs and pet sitting. I am comfortable around all breeds of dogs, and I'm a dog lover to my core.

About

I was brought up with four dogs, two cats, a bunny, a rat, two hamsters, and three fish and cleaning up the mess that came with them. I've loved animals my whole life, and I miss having them around! I'm a very energetic and caring person, so your pet would always feel cared for and loved while they were with me. These attributes also assist in household duties that require energy and care. I care, therefore; I won't leave a dust bunny anywhere!

About

I grew up on a farm in Texas. I have taken care of animals such as goats, rabbits, chickens and different types of poultry for most of my life. I also grew up with 3 dogs and 2 cats (both indoor and outdoor). I miss taking care of them terribly and would love to pet sit, as I do not have the space for any at the moment.

I am a true student of life. I'd imagine that some of my competitors are not as observant as I am.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
