- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, I do. I normally charge $125 for the first person, the booking if it's one person, or the Bride, if it's a wedding. Each additional person is $65.00. I do often negotiate though. I will do piecework as well. Eyes only will be $35.00, I will also, recheck the persons basic face. I do not charge for children under 12, I will glitter and gloss your flower girl at no charge. If you've got more than 2, I may charge you a small fee to cover my time and product. Trial runs are $50.00. I will detail and draw out the entire look to save for your occasion as well on a face chart. If I have to pay to park at a location, I will ask you to pay the fee. If I have to travel more than 15-20 miles, I will ask for a small mileage or travel amount for my time and gasoline. usually about $25.00-$50.00 depending upon the distance of the location. If you make me wait around (you are 2 hours late) or you would like for me to stay while you take your photographs, or during your event. I will absolutely do it, but it will cost you $25.00 an hour. (It's usually really not necessary anyway!) Yes, I do require a NON REFUNDABLE deposit to hold your day. I'm very busy, I can't afford cancellations. It is a $50.00 fee. I will use "the square" for payment on location often. I also do accept PayPal. I will be happy to put together a personalized makeup or skincare kit for your needs as well for an additional charge. I will teach makeup application technique/lessons and instruction, personal or for a group. Please ask me if you've got any questions at all.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to discuss exactly what you think that you are looking for. We set up an initial phone call, then typically an in person or a Skype online meeting for a more in-depth discussion of your vision and personal needs. We determine exactly what your timeframe/timing needs to be, what products we will need, if a trial run needs to be done etc. We also discuss preferences, your skin, and any specific concerns or needs that you may have with regard to your makeup application.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am actually a cosmetics and artistry educator, and I have been for over 25 years. Please feel free to peruse my resume on LinkedIn. I've worked with some of the largest and most prestigious cosmetics houses in the country, I've even helped write the education materials and protocol for several of them. Including Lancôme, Estée Lauder, Bare Escentuals (I was their national training executive!) and PUR Minerals (I was Director of Sales and Education!) I've been trained by some of the best artists in the country including Bobbi Brown, (I was an Account Executive for them) Fred Farrugia and the amazing artists during my 7 year tenure as an executive with Lancôme. I additionally was booked as a National Makeup Artist and often as a Regional Artist in Miami working with Lancôme, I was a Regional Makeup artist for Chanel, Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Borghese, Ultima 2, Alexandra De Markoff. I launched the Armani brand of cosmetics in south Florida for L'Oreal. There are so many more! I think I've literally freelanced for every major cosmetics company over the years. I did however first begin my makeup training with a certification program with John Robert Powers in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1982. I then began working with Estée Lauder on a counter part time in 1984. Throughout my career, I have always continued to work as a freelance makeup artist, working directly for several freelance makeup artistry and modeling agency's, and receiving bookings through many wedding and event planning professionals, and through direct referrals from my past clients and photographers. That's always so rewarding!
