Introduction: Too many Spanish teachers expect their students to mindlessly memorize content and then wonder why their students have a hard time with foreign language. I help make connections between English and Spanish that make the language come alive more, and help it stick in the memory. Also, I bring more to the table than just Spanish... my understanding of psychology and my years of teaching experience make me an efficient coach for improving study habits and decreasing test stress. I like when my students make discoveries on their own, with gentle guidance. I try to move at a pace that allows the student to direct the process, where the student does not get the luxury of directing the process in the typical classroom environment. It's more rewarding when the student doesn't just learn, but feels empowered to learn. Also, I like that a student who pursues a tutor's services is implied to have a lot of self-motivation: it takes bravery to say that time in the classroom is not enough and that additional work is needed.

Awesome tutor! Mr.leblanc did whatever it took to make sure I understood the material I needed to learn. Also he tried his best to fit my schedule. All around great tutor turned my D to a B.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

$30/hour is very straightforward, and I've heard of many tutors charging more. For me, this price includes my bachelor's degree in Spanish, my training from Teach For America, and my wealth of tutoring experience. I also own many Spanish books, foreign language research sources, and computer-based resources to amplify my student's growth.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most commonly, students are looking for homework help and pre-quiz preparation. However I have served many teenage and older adult learners who were looking for more of a focus on fluency building, which called for a more personalized program. I can cover a broad range of student needs, but the more often we meet and the better depth the studying, the more quantifiable improvement has been noticed in the classroom.
