I teach drum set (beats, fills, reading, styles), band percussion (mallets, snare drum and tympani), piano (classical, jazz, popular) and guitar (lead and rhythm) to kids and adults. Group lessons are also available. I also can teach a student more than one instrument.
I have reasonable rates, convenient location, or I can come to you. I also have excellent references.
Biography: I haven taken nine years of piano lessons since the age of five, played guitar since 1984, and have had percussion and drumset instruction since the age of twelve.
* Taught drum set by an apprentice of acclaimed drummer Rod Morgenstein.
* Drum-line section leader for Monterey High School in Lubbock
* Earned All District Band in Concert Band and All District Jazz band for 2 years.
* Accepted to the Berklee College of Music in 1990.
* Played drums for national touring artists (Loxsly, Beth Wood, Moistboys, Bug/Splinter)
* Percussion instructor at Covington and O Henry Middle Schools and Austin High School.
* Worked with kids, adults and groups for the last nine years, most notably the teen band Residual Kid, who in 2015 was signed by Sire Records to a 1.7 million dollar record contract and are now touring worldwide.
