FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate is $30 per hour for general tutoring and test prep. Specialized services such as public speaking coaching, voice/speech coaching, acting lessons, writing services, etc. are $40 per hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once a customer is interested in my services, we'll set up a free consultation. During this time I get to meet the student and the parent(s), and they get to meet me. This gives us the opportunity to learn if we can meet each other's needs and work well together. Once we decide to work together, we settle on the type of tutoring and the frequency and length of tutoring sessions, as well as payment methods. I typically travel to the student's home, although we can also meet at a public place, such as a library or coffee shop.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked as an educator for 17 years: 7 as a certified teacher in junior high and high school; 3 as a certified post-secondary instructor; 7 as a substitute teacher. I have training and experience with learning disabilities and various test preparations. I have a bachelors degree in secondary education. My majors are in communications, public speaking, and theater. I have taught high school English. I am able to tutor in most subject areas through college level English/language Arts, and basic high school level math and sciences. I have a degree in secondary education with majors in Communication, Public Speaking, and Theater.
