We were looking to change our existing garden that was 19 years old. David came out and sketched up a drawing of a new landscape design. After discussing our ideas he had some recommendations and just a few days later he came back and installed the new garden. It came out great! We would definitely recommend him.

I'm so happy with the quality of work on my yard. My yard is always cut on schedule with excellent attention to many of the details that previous lawn care companies had missed. The monthly billing option is very convenient. I'm looking forward to using New Orleans Lawn and Garden Service for all my lawn care needs!

My garden needed a complete overhaul. New mulch, fresh flowers, shrubs trimmed, weeding, and a general cleanup of my garden to get ready for summer entertaining. Parker from Louisiana Land Art came out and gave me a quote, and after comparing with 2 other companies I chose them to do the job. He was very clean cut and professional and very personable. The job took 1 day and he surprised me with a free power wash of my driveway! I will definitely use his services again as he was very thorough and I truly appreciated them cleaning up after themselves.

Thank you Mr Gary for working with our organization to redo the garden at our main office. Fat Boys was more than willing to work with in our budget and create a beautiful garden and dramatically improved the appearance of the front of our building. We were skeptical at first because other companies said the garden we needed to fix was going to be way out of what we could afford. Mr Gary at Fat Boys created a full looking garden on time and on budget. We Highly recommend his services

Michael was hired to get my garden in shape because I was putting my house on the market. He was very professional and got the job completed on time. He did a great job and my garden looked wonderful. As I spoke with him I could tell he was very knowledgeable about trimming, planting, and landscaping, etc. I would definitely hire him again for future projects.

We have a large property. When we purchased it five years ago, the lawns and gardens had been uncared for for years- the previous owner was an aging widow. We asked the local nursery for recommendations, and they introduced us to Rob. Since then, Rob has served as our landscaper, performing miracles with every aspect of our huge restoration project. He has cleared, restored, planned, built and improved every foot of our gardens, walkways, walls and ponds. Our lawns are beautiful and beautifully cared for. He is invariably punctual, a pleasure to deal with, professional and talented in design, always responsive to our needs and suggestions.

Scottie came to my aid, on short notice. My previous lawn care provider stopped coming, and the lawn was up to my knees. She was here the next day. Right on time, and she did an excellent job. I have hired her to continue to care for my lawn. I would highly recommend her. She is reliable and does good work!

I love to cook. Playing with different flavors has always appealed. Mainly some Asian influences. I have also worked in the food industry for over twenty years & taken cooking lessons in Thai food. Again, it's the alchemy and freshness of home-cooked food. I like to use fresh herbs and make my own pestos.

We maintain and install any and all landscapes, water gardens and lawns. It's as easy as a phone call away. Free estimates also!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
