Absolutely professional, punctual and trustworthy! Upon their initial consultation, they advised me that the job was much smaller/easier than I anticipated. So much in fact, they indicated that I could easily DIY it myself (if I preferred)... so that's the route I went. I tried to compensate them for their time, trouble and technical advise, but they refused my money! They are now permanently in my "contractor rolodex!" Thank You Tech-Pro Solutions!! -John D

Arthur Douglas, New Orleans, LA Window Replacement Thank you Mr. Duncan for doing a fantastic job. Mr. Duncan puts the pro in professional. He took out my existing window. Saved me tons of money by installing a 36 by 52 window instead of the 36 by 51 and 1/2 (Uneven dimensions means special order). He sealed the gaps in my brick. He put a never rot barrier around my window and a silicone seal that blends straight in ( Wonderful work I still don't know where the silicone is). He transformed the new construction window that I bought into a replacement window (saving me more money). He chalked my existing window frame and filled in all the holes. And that's not all folks. His clean up was excellent. You would have not know work was done unless I told you. He carries all his tools and shows up early. Did I mention he shows up early? And the best part is he is very knowledgeable and creative. Everything you need into one. I highly recommend Mr. Duncan for any home improvement needs. P.S. Mr. Duncan I have more projects waiting on you!

Tom was great to work with and did a fantastic job on our deck. He's to the point and doesn't cut corners. He worked us in to his busy schedule to get something done in an "urgent" time frame. Would definitely hire him again for other projects.

Double R was amazing!! Two days before our Act Of Sale the A/C drain clog causing water to run all over our floors - there was damage to 5 or 6 strips of wood. After trying Angie List and several other sites I remembered hearing Thumbtack advertised on the Radio, so I tried searching-Double R answered my request within an hour and met me at the house the next morning to look at the damages. Rodrick gave me a quote, returned back later that day and fixed the damages. You could not even tell there had been several planks removed and replaced! Rodrick was professional, experienced, understood the urgency and took action. I would recommend Double R to anyone. I will call upon him again to help with repairs in my home. These days it is hard to find find a contractor that will even show up, Double R is a rare gem! Thank you Thumbtack and a HUGE thank you to Rodrick and Double D!

Santos was very professional and completed the door installation within the time frame he said. He had to remove an old door and install a new one fitting all of the hardware and drilling holes for the lock and handle. I would definitely use him again on other projects around the house.

Finally able to leave a review for this great company! I hired them to repair my roof. I had recently had my roof repaired, so I thought. The contractor ripped me off and left holes in my roof which I didn't find out until our last big rain when it was raining in my house! A friend of mine referred Legacy Restoration to see if they could help me. I was nervous because I had been ripped off already. I contacted Legacy, and their response time was great. They were here within 24 hours of me contacting them. Their quote was so reasonable, I was shocked. They completed the job within a weeks time. They kept me informed through the whole process keeping me at ease. There was no disruption to my household during their work. They did a fantastic job. Even the insurance company rep who came to inspect the work was very impressed with the job Legacy did. I would highly recommend them. They will also be my go to company for any future issues I may have.

Travis is officially my go-to guy. He has taken care of numerous projects around my house. And he does an excellent job. The price he quoted me for my projects is what I paid when the job was done. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Will hire him for future projects. I also want to mention Joey and Jimmy. They are very friendly and professional, too.

We hired Rose Construction to completely replace the defective Weyerhaeuser hardboard siding and most of the trim on out house with pre-painted color plus Hardie product. We also had a new Milguard window installed which entailed cutting a hole in the side of the house and installing new framing around the window. The two man crew did a good job and I am confident that the job was done to James Hardie installation standards, which is important to me. We also had the house color changed and existing trim, gutters, and downspouts repainted. The siding crew was scheduled to do the painting themselves, but after I asked for more attention to the painting detail, my project manager brought in a separate dedicated paint crew to do the painting to my satisfaction. Thanks.

John built us a double privacy fence in Waveland, Mississippi. The property was right in front of a pond and in the Katrina direct hit path, so John, used pipe fence posts filled with concrete, but the fence itself was made of wood hung with screws instead of nails. The fence that John built exceeded our expectations, was professionally done and was completed timely. John also did various renovations for us, including new divider walls, crown molding and painting. He did a refinish on a walk-in closet that was so sturdy, he could hang from the clothing pole holder. John has multi-faceted experience as a contractor and has always been able to complete any request we have made. His professionalism and work quality are highly recommended by us for any of your construction needs.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

      • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
      • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
      • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
      • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
      • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
      • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

      • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
      • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
      • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
      • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
      • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
      • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
      • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
      • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
