About
Located in the Dallas area, I specialize in singing technique diagnostics, and the anatomical foundations of healthy singing. I teach exclusively remotely.
I am able to hear exactly what is happening in the anatomy your vocal production and how it deals with the different muscle groups and breath used for singing, where your resonance is coming from, how you are creating and placing your tone, and what tension might need to be released. I can even hear this over FaceTime and Zoom.
I believe in honing your craft from every direction. Everyone learns differently, everyone uses information differently, but everyone responds to positive and encouraging feedback. I want to help you find your whole, true voice.
I offer lessons “a la carte” and don’t require a commitment with a weekly time slot or monthly tuition! I offer discounts on packages but you have the freedom to schedule them whenever you want with my online scheduler! Feel free to schedule from my website listed below to get started!

Julie is AMAZING! Where do I even start? I've been working with Julie for about 4-5 months, and I've noticed incredible growth in my vocal capabilities. It's not that she provided a silver bullet, it's that she guided me to a better, deeper understanding of the fundamentals I was missing. Her ability to diagnose and treat pitfalls with specific exercises is the center of our sessions together.
If you want a teacher who customizes the exercises, lessons, and practice recommendations to your specific voice and areas in need of improvement, then Julie is for you!
I literally look forward each week to my lessons with her!
If I could list more than the three items Thumbtack limited me to (work quality, professionalism, responsiveness) then I would.

I 100% recommend Julie for your voice lessons! If you’re reading this review, you don’t need to search any further for a voice coach because Julie is so incredibly qualified and talented! I have never seen improvement with my voice until having lessons with her and now I see improvement every single week! I just cannot express how wonderful she is and how much she will help you! Her encouraging personality makes singing so enjoyable and I can’t wait to take more lessons from her :) Don’t miss out on what she has to offer; she always knows exactly what to do with your voice 😁

She was very sweet, kind and patient with my daughter. I am excited about the skills she will learn with Julie. My daughter left her first session excited so that’s a huge win for me. She is affordable too!

Vocal Diagnostics for Singing's reply
Ashlea, your kind words mean the world to me.
Creating a lesson plan for younger children always comes with some creativity! One has to be very cognizant of the optimal and limited singing range of a young child, and have details carefully planned for learning to read music and learn solfedge, learning diction with tongue twisters, and making it entertaining. Teaching adults always gets right into the nitty gritty, but you have to work a little more creatively to make it enjoyable for a young child!

I had my first voice lesson yesterday with Julie and she is amazing! She has such a great personality that makes me feel comfortable singing, I am so excited for what is to come and how much my voice will strengthen with her guidance. Comparing her to other teachers I’ve had she is by far the best and most professional, I would definitely recommend her!

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First discussing what lead the student to reach out for voice lessons, getting a sense of any previous experience they have, letting them ask any initial questions they have, and then diving right into the lesson with vocal exercises.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I go to a Voice Teacher Mentorship seminar that used to be twice yearly in New York City with my voice teacher’s teacher, but now that most things are zoom, I get this continuing education all year round. It is an incredible experience where I get to learn as much as I can from a man who has devoted his life on compiling the most healthful and wholistic methods of training the voice.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve been taking voice lessons for decades, and singing professionally for more than fifteen years, but it wasn’t until I started studying with my current voice teacher that I started considering teaching myself. My teacher has been the most incredible mentor, and very quickly expressed to me that he thought I should consider teaching, and immediately sent me to his teacher in NYC for teacher mentorship seminars. That was back in 2018, and the rest is history!
