I have been working for lucky dogs daycare for about a year and a half. My experience with lucky dogs has been a great one. We are still a growing business and are building up our facility to be the best it can be. We are a full service daycare facility, but we also do boarding, training, grooming and we have our new retail shop with all sorts of goodies for your pups. I love being able to bring my dog Buffy in for a groom. She's older so she doesn't care for daycare, but she loves coming to Lucky Dogs for a good pampering by Jane. All of our groomers are great at what they do and our experts in their field. They have been grooming for many many years. The best part about working for lucky dogs would have to be the dogs. We have a really good group of dogs that come pretty much everyday. At lucky dogs your dog isn't just another name on a list, every staff member has their own favorites lol. And throughout the day each dog gets some one on one attention with their favorite staff member and vice versa. We take the time to get to know each dog and their behaviors, and try to cater to each dogs individual needs. So we can ultimately have a safer group of dogs to play with each day. We also have a really good group of staff members, some of them have been here for a couple years and a few have been here a little less. We really don't have a high turn around rate for staff like with most daycares. So our staff and especially the dogs are like family here.

Enika is an amazing horsewoman who teaches riders at every level. I’ve ridden half my life and never took a lesson until I went to Boston Equine. Enika has taught me how to ride properly to protect and support my horse. I couldn’t be more pleased with her training methods and how accommodating she is to her riders and boarders. Her knowledge of horse care and behavior is comforting...especially when you are leaving your horse in someone else’s hands. I’ve also had her train a young mare that was quite mean (biting) and also explosive with no warning...after 2 sessions with Enika she made significant improvements in both areas and now, 8 months later she is. Completely different horse! Kudos to Enika and Boston Equine...I’m a huge fan.

Bridlewood is the only boarding place we have entrusted with our beloved canine family members. The services, care and facilities are unsurpassed. Dale Cuddy and her staff are genuinely caring, compassionate and most knowledgeable and talented (great grooming!). It’s evident that our dogs enjoy their time at Bridlewood – happy to see us upon our return, but always excited and eager to leave home for another stay at Camp Bridlewood!

Finding Maggie was nearly the best thing that happened for not only my dog, but my family! After having my kids and being a stay at home mom for a few years, I decided to go back to work, which is when it all started. My dogs separation anxiety once I went to work was the most shocking and worst thing I'd ever seen!! We were at the point of seriously considering giving her up because nothing was working! Even my neighbors had complained multiple times. I tried everything my friends had suggested, along with three different books, and even Google! Nothing stuck. Maggie was my last hope. It wasn't until we had our first home visit with Maggie that I saw the same dog I had known before for years! Maggie was the most patient, understanding, and knowledgeable trainer, and never once made me feel that I was a bad dog owner or at fault for my dogs behavior! We couldn't help but book her for weeks after just one visit after seeing progress so early on! Not only is my dog now able to stay home when I'm at work, but she is more disciplined, able to do more tricks than ever, and more social than ever having been on group walks with Maggie and fellow dogs! I truly feel like my family and I have a new found love and appreciation for our dog all thanks to Maggie! Couldn't recommend her more!!

Amazing!! I couldn't be happier with the training my two shepherds recieved. They are wonderful off leash, I can bring them anywhere! I get compliments on how well they are trained all the time. If you want high quality training of your dog you've found the perfect place. I would and will take all my future dogs here. Titan (17 months when trained) and Layla (7 months when trained) are still well behaved and listen. Yet act like dogs, they still have their own personalities, that was no broken from them in training as some other trainers have done.

Luiz kept me posted all day on how my dog was doing...it made me feel at ease knowing my dog was safe, and having fun.

Vinny, his wife, and the rest of the staff at Paws Up are incredible. What’s great about this dog day care is they actually will work with the dogs instead of just leaving them to do whatever they want. There’s structure and my pitbull loves going. Vinny has also been very helpful with any questions I’ve had and helped refer to me a great veterinarian. I’m a big supporter of family owned businesses and I highly recommend using paws up for day care, private training, and boarding.

Kathleen has worked with me and my Newfoundland on obedience training. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient and consistent. I am now able to walk my dog with confidence that we will both be safe and get the exercise we both need. Kathleen was always ready, willing and able to meet for follow up training. She has also offered us opportunities for specialized training and testing. The only place I have ever boarded my dog is with Kathleen. I know he is cared for and safe. Kathleen's number one priority is the health, safety and well being of the dogs in her care.

I have been a client of Paws Here since it's opening. My dogs are my children and I would only send them to a Day Care facility that I had 100% trust in. Hands down, Paws Here is the best facility in the North Shore. Constant supervision, terrific ratio of staff to clients, and an environment that does everything right to ensure a great experience while keeping safety a top priority are all rasons why I would recommend Paws Here without question or concern.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

        • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
        • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
          • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
          • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
          • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
        • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
          • Horse training: $20 per session.
          • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
          • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
          • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

        What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.
