FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $40 per hour with a minimum of 30 minutes. First session is always free. Prices depend on the day of the week when the class takes place. Prices are 10% higher when the class is on a Saturday or Sunday. A typical session lasts one hour. Longer classes are priced lower (per hour).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always try to learn what the student expects from me first. I ask questions about what the student would like the class to be like and his/her goals. I then assess the level of the customer with a few questions or conversation and based on that, I structure the class and the teaching approach. Normally, our sessions will focus on conversational skills, vocabulary and pronunciation in that order. After each session I send a summary email with new vocabulary or sentences to review. We'll use popular apps like Zoom or Google Meet to conduct our sessions. The images are not usually important, we can meet over the phone as well.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have experience teaching adults in Spanish. I am also a volunteer tutoring children in the public schools in a variety of subjects, including Spanish reading and conversation. I have done professional translation work for several companies and non-profits. I believe that to teach Spanish well to English native speakers, the teacher must have a perfect command of English. We'll explore word similarities and differences, their history and evolution to achieve a better comprehension. Please check my resume in ******** for more information.
