I was immediately drawn to her work. At the time she was offering an amazing promo $150/hour for how many hours. At that time we hadn't decided on our venue/ time of our wedding. We went with a morning wedding and only needed her for the ceremony, and first dance. A total of four hours, in which she agreed to. So I decided to jump on it, gave her 1/2 the deposit. My husband and I met with her, and told her we wouldn't be paying her until we see the photos. She agreed. The week before the wedding she said that she needs to "go back" on what she said and collect full payment before our wedding day. We tried to meet up her in person, but she had a busy schedule with her sons birthday. We invited her to the wedding rehearsal so she could receive payment, and also see the venue/lighting (which was very dark in the wine cellar) but unfortunately she had wedding she was shooting the day before ours. For someone who wanted payment, she was not too accommodating to receive payment. So we my husband and I waited until after our photos were edited & processed to pay her in full. My husband received two discs, one able to open, and the other one we had a lot of difficulty. We contacted Maleida, Told her the situation that we weren't able to open the file due to incompatibility of the program. Also, the files she burned our photos one of the CDs opened up one time, and wasn't able to open them again. I contact her numerous times and she would come up with excuses, or empty promises of sending a digital file.
A month before the wedding, she took down her Facebook business page, and her personal page. I was very concerned because her contact phone changed as well. I ended up finding her on Instagram and told her I was trying to touch base before the wedding, like I did with all my vendors. Not the most professional way to contact a wedding photographer. Fast forward, It's been three months post our wedding and she has personally blocked me on Facebook, and also has taken down her business page again. We end up getting a few good shots from our wedding day. Maleida is a talented photographer, unfortunately we did not have a positive experience with her services. Her professionalism and communication was nothing but sub par. Trying to get a hold of her was down right exhausting. I hope one thing for future brides is to really spend time and invest in a photographer who is professional and registered, and insured. Had I done my research, and not jumped the gun it would have saved me a headache.
